No problems here so far.
Also the new iTunes update has sorted out some of my iPod synching problems.

Just installed it. Gave DP 5.1 a quick run. All seems okay.
Oh, by the way --
This OS update is supposed to have some USB fixes and advancements. Could be meaningful to those of you using USB MIDI interfaces.

Wow-- I read about 10.4.8 on MacRumors.com a couple of days ago but didn't mention it because rumors are rumors...
I never imagined this would appear so soon! I may wait only because I'm mid-project right now, but it's good to hear the so-far-so-good reports.

Everything works for me. DP 5.1 on a dual processor 2 GHz G5, Powercore Compact 2.02, MOTU Ultralite with the latest drivers version, and a Tascam US-2400 control surface (it's a MIDI interface attached via USB).

I have 5.1 Mac Mini Intel Core Duo 1.66 MHz with M-Audio Firewire Solo and Oxygen 8 (original). 10.4.8 blew my m-audio drivers. I had to reinstall 10.4.5 (came with Mac Mini). DP 5.1 ran fine just no audio in or out from the M-Audio.

A recurring problem with OS updates. Have you downloaded the latest M-Audio drivers? I have kept the M-Audio driver FireWire_OSX_1.6-1174.dmg
on my system as the last reliable driver for my FW410. Loosing the FW connection is death for me.

Macbook Pro + Traveller working here....so far. I've only had the update about 2-3 hours. I've been getting all sorts of errors with this combination, crashes (with the non standard surround error) squeaks, and rough 8 bit sound every now and then. I've been doing 5.1 mixing only, so I figured I'd be the last to be happy - and it was so borked...what the heck.
It seems to have sorted all of this out - had a heart stopping moment when I first launched DP 5.1 - it refused to connect to the Traveller - but after I started everything again - all seems fine.
I keep saying seems - everytime I tell somone its fixed, I'll be in for 2 days of crashes every 10 minutes.

Just an FYI, my After Effects list is reporting severe problems with 10.4.8... The application won't even launch any more for some users.
I know some of you use AE and other graphics apps, so you might want to wait a while before diving in on this one.
I'm still on 10.4.6, and I'm told I'm just as sexy without having upgraded to 10.4.7.

10.4.8 ok so far here.
I have never had any problems with any OSX updates. There are a few things I always do before & after doing an update.
.. Disconnect any Firewire hard drives (some have been known to get corruped durring the upgrade process).
.. Repair permission before and after the update.
.. ONLY use the "combo" updater.
.. When doing major updates ie.. (Jaguar to Panther) or (Panther to Tiger) make sure you back up important data, then initialize the drive and install the new OS from scratch.
These things have always worked for me, and I have never had any programs, drivers or utilities break after an incremental OS upgrade. "So far"
