Just wondering which version of DP to get for my new G5 with OS 10.4.2. I am currently using DP4.12 on my G4.
Is 4.6 more stable? I would like to be able to run my current plug ins with minimal upgrading.
Mach 5,Atmosphere,Trilogy,Altiverb,EWQLG orchestra,Antares Auto Tune.
I do not plan on going MacTel until everything runs relatively problem free...Maybe a year? So universal binary isn`t needed.
Thanks, Bob :D

Which G5 do you have? It's dual processor, correct? If so I'd go bump all the way up to 5.1 already. Otherwise, I'd at least go to 4.61 as I think that IS indeed better optimized than 4.12. :-)

I'm still hesitant about DP5. For me, 4.6.2 works like a charm. No need for me to upgrade and I don't need any virtual synths or a fancy meter bridge.

DP 5 latest updates more stable than ever

i updated dp5 to its latest version a few weeks ago and for me this is the most stable version since moving to osx. altiverb cost me lots of trouble but now everything is fine! and meterbrigde is really cool!

Thank you for responding!
Yes, it is a dual core G5. Are there any issues with plug in compatibility in 5.1? That is my main concern....I just want to be able to run all of my excisting plug ins. If 4.62 allows them to run well, I would be happy with that!

two questions:

1. are you talking about DP 4.52 or 4.61?

2. can you list your plugins? it will be easier to determine what works and what doesn't in 5.1

I'll add 5.1 is at least as stable for me or moreso, considering I've not had any crash or spiking issues in 10.4.7 to date. Yes-- I'm knocking wood with the world's largest gavel, but 4.61 was giving me occasional problems, which prompted me to update.

5.1's features are really welcome additions.

4.51 or 4.62... I`m open to suggestions. Whichever one is more stable.
My G5 has OS 10.4.2.
My plug ins are: Mach 5,Altiverb,Trilogy,Atmosphere,Antares Auto Tune,EWQLO Gold,. They are all running well in DP4.12 on my G4.
Thanks,Bob :D

Hey Bob!

FYI-- there is no 4.62. There is a 4.52 and there is a 4.61. Just wanted to clarify-- sounds like you mean 4.61, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Your Plugins:

1. MachFive 1.2.3 must be installed to use with 5.1. Until MOTU fixes the install issue, you might have to first install 1.2.3, then remove the MachFive '.bundle' and '.component' file, then just reinstall the update. Not all essential files are automatically updated during the install, so this might have to be done manually. I did it, took 3 minutes. It works.

2. Altiverb 5 is working well. 5.4.6 is the latest version.

3. Trilogy and Atmosphere-- to the best of my knowledge there are no UB versions of these yet, but they may not be necessary. I've heard no complaints about problems with them running in DP 5.1. 1.2.4 seems to be the latest version of both.

4. AutoTune-- will work only as AU and not MAS in 5.1 at this time. Settings made in MAS don't appear to be portable into AU. Some users have used GRAB in OSX to capture important parameter data to be re-entered when running AU.

5. EWQL... I use the choirs and am having absolutely no problems in 5.1. Neither have I heard or seen any problems regarding Gold in 5.1

As mentioned, to get 4.61 now requires a fee and to get 5.1 requires another fee. The issues are not insurmountable, imho, to warrant paying twice-- but I've always said that one man's granola is another man's kitty litter.

Thanks Frodo,
That is very helpful information. It sounds like 5.1 will work fine.
I know with any upgrade there is a potential for glitches, which is perfectly understandable to me. And paying twice doesn`t make much sense.
5.1 it is!
I will post when up and running!
Thanks all!!
