I've seen both of these issues posted on the board before. Just wondering if anyone came across a solution for both or one or the other. Tried a search, but came up with nothing.
thanks in advance.

yep!! There are a few posts buried in threads hither and yon.
MachFive:
This seems to be a fairly common problem that MOTU have publicly acknowledged and are working on a bug fix.
To fix it;
- Quit all applications
- Go to /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components and trash "MachFive AU.component"
- Go to Your User Folder/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components and trash "MachFive AU.component"
- Go to /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/MAS and trash "MachFive MAS.bundle"
- Empty Trash
- Shut down completely and reboot.
- Reinstall M5 v1.2.3

Antares AutoTune:

Antares Autotune Compatibility Problems With Digital Performer Universal Binary
There have been many reports of immediate crashes with Antares Autotune and DP 5.1. Click here to visit Antare••™s website for updates and the latest information.
In a nutshell, the latest AutoTune just doesn't work properly yet with DP 5.1, although all signs indicate that it should. You may want to contact Antares directly since their site is a bit vague.

I got Autotune to work by installing and using only its latest AU version. I haven't run it through anything intensive, but it seems to work.

Chris, that's good news. Antares can drag its feet on such things, but it's nice to know that someone has gotten it to work.

ATune AU seems to be working fine for me too. ATune MAS was instant crashville under DP 5.1.

On my older Powerbook, I'm using DP 5.1 (because I'm still running OSX 10.3.9 on it, and Tiger is a requirement for DP 5.1.1) and Auto-Tune AU latest version works without crashing. I think Antares was discouraging use of the MAS version, so I guess we're on the same page as far as that goes.

Just to throw in a few cents as well -
Just upgraded to 5.1 and had the same issue with AT.
Sent the crash log off to MOTU and they responded right away - advising to make sure to delete the AT MAS from your hard drive - make sure the AT AU version is a go and then the AU version should load and run fine - Its been working for me in the studio with no problems.
Now I just read on Waves site that due to the major architecture changes with 5.1 that the Waves plugs are "Currently not supported" under 5.1 yet.
I think there needs to be some better planning next go round. - Basically 5.1 is forcing a Tiger upgrade and a slew of other issues for losts of folks.
I am still having issues getting the PLugSound / Ultimate Sound Bank to run - even after installing the v1.94 from USB's site - Iy simply crashes when and I add the instrument and any projects that have it assigned already crash upon loading....

Gotta do the same thing. Delete all related MAS bundles, use only latest AU components.

Hey Tommy! You told me to go AU with ATune a while back, and you were sure right. The problem became really bad with DP 5.1, but resolved nicely with the AU version.
Orcasound: Use Waves AU. They work great! Pre-rendering works. It's sort of a pain loading old projects though. A reverb tail problem is also present, but appears to have been an ongoing problem with Waves, which I avoid by using Altiverb. A workaround is also discussed in these threads.
