i'm a former pro tools LE user, fed up with the B.S. that digidesign dishes out just so their users can say they have "pro tools."
DP was my first choice when i decided to ditch LE, and motu hardware has always been excellent to me.
I have a mac pro 2.66ghz and i'm going to be using an old model 896 (not the HD).
Does anyone think i will run into any problems with DP 5? Any suggestions?
Thanks a lot!!

I'm using DP 5.1 on a Mac Pro 2.66 with no problems. The only "problem" I'm having is waiting for some companies to come out with their UB versions of software. DP 5.1 screams on this mac!

I cannot respond to you yet, but I am very close to purchasing my MacPro tower as well. (Waiting for some financial things to happen first, should be resolved this week).
I will be using both an 896 and an 896HD, and I feel both will work fine. BUT, I will be sure to comment when I get everything running (I will be using DP 5.1)

i used to have money too...but now i have a computer!
and i will be selling my 002 soon to compensate for some money. LE 7 is great if you want to learn pro tools, but not for real recording purposes.
i had a buffer underrun error message that came up all the freaking time. i e-mailed digidesign and they told me my problem was my computer. HAHAHAH!!! Can you believe that? LE 7 has so many bugs in it! So i kicked it to the curb, and now i'm very happy with DP.
