DP 5.1 & Reason 3.0.5 issue...

I'm still new to Digital Performer, and I have to say, I've never had this much difficulty just using a virtual instrument. I'm starting to miss Pro Tools, so please, help me before I lose my senses. :-P

I keep having serious issues using Reason under Rewire. I've got it coming into an Aux track, with various MIDI tracks outputting to specific Reason devices. If I set up a Reason session with all my instruments just the way I want and don't change anything at all, everything is fine. I output each MIDI track to an instrument and it works fine. The problem is when I decide to change something in Reason. If I change anything at all, even the level on a mixer, I start having weird issues like zero response from the instruments, or having all my MIDI tracks "stuck" on the same instrument, regardless of what I have their output set to.

And right now, I'm getting absolutely no response from anything, so I'm going to restart. In any case, my current specs:

Intel iMac 17" 1.83 w/ 1G m
OS 10.4.7
Kurzweil SP-88X
M-Audio Uno Interface
DP 5.1
Reason 3.0.5

So, is anyone having a good time w/ DP & Reason???

Hi
I have just setup Reason on my MacBook Pro with DP 5.1. All seems fine.
I have been using it in the same way that you have. All MIDI notes and controller info played back from DP. As yet can't find any problems.

This is how I setup my system.
Dp 5 was loaded first, opened and authorized. I then went and deleted all the Mas plugins. Next I updated to DP5.1. All the Mas plugins were replaced with new updated versions.
Tested DP 5.1. With a quick test all Vi's and plugs worked fine.
Bye the way, at this stage I was only listening through built in audio only. I hadn't loaded any firewire driver.
Next was the firewire driver for my 896HD (latest version from MOTU downloads). More tests, all working.
I then repaired permissions.

I have not put any 3rd party AU's on at this stage (most of what I want still does not exsist as UB)

Now, with Reason I only loaded the update (3.0.5) Don't load Reason 3.
I dragged the update the the hard disk and followed the instructions. Again everything went in and worked well.

The Reason 3.0.5 update also updates Rewire. I have had problems in the past with Rewire updates so this time I started with a blank canvas.

I suggest you remove Reason and Rewire and start again going stright for the update.
Don't forget to repair permissions.

Never mind. Stupid human error at work. haha

For some reason I was thinking that you didn't have to record enable the specific devices in the Reason sequencer as well. I was record enabling the MIDI tracks in DP, but not the device I wanted to use in Reason!

If you want to use Reason as a multitimberal sound module, just record MIDI to either track of DP or Reason.
The only time you want to enabling record in Reason is when you need to save the sequence in Reason format to be used alone not as Rewire.

If you had the same MIDI data in both MIDI tracks of DP and Reason, you will have to mute one of them when you playback.
Otherwise you'll get a double of everything.

Well I'm not recording the MIDI info to Reason, just DP -- I'm only record enabling the Reason devices I want to use so I can "play" them through DP so I can hear how it sounds before I commit to anything.
