MIDI Time Piece II

This should be an easy question to answer although I can't find the answer in the manual or forums. I recently purchased a Stealth Serial Port for a Dual 1.25 GHz Mac to incorporate a MIDI Time Piece II interface that I've been using for years. My configuration looks like this:

DP 5.1
Dual 1.25 G4/OSXTiger (all updates)
MTP II
Stealth Serial Port adaptor (driver Tiger compatible)
828

Question: Will DP 5 actually see a serial ported MIDI interface (or MTPII specifically)? Do I have to upgrade to a USB or Firewire MIDI Interface?

Your responses and info are greatly appreciated.

The quick answer is "yes", it will work with DP5 and Tiger.

It requires not only an installation of the Stealth driver (for Tiger), but also that driver must be configured with a mini-app supplied by GeeThree on their website which will enable the Mac to see the port as a dedicated MIDI serial port instead of a modem since it takes over the modem bus. When I completed those functions, I was able to configure DP's Audio/MIDI set up with zero probs. I'm leaving this post in case anyone else runs into this issue.

Cheers.

although not a direct answer to your question, an existing MTPI/II can also be utilized with a new mac by networking it with a MTP AV. i currently run a usb MTP AV with an original MTP networked to it. works great and it's a great way to double your available MIDI ports for about $20 on ebay.
