Something of Higher audio Quality that works seemless with DP
as if I were using a motu interface.

Look at the transport. There are pullout drawers, each opened by virtue of a gray triangle just to the upper right of the counter. Keep opening them until you see Tempo Control panel.

Tempo Control is one of at least two options in a sticky menu. Click and hold that sticky menu, then choose Conductor Track.

Open your conductor track's event list by double clicking on the conductor track. Among the items shown across the top of that window frame, there will be the letter I. This is to insert key changes, tempo changes, or meter changes. Make your choice for key, tempo, or meter, then enter the desired data.

Responded to the wrong thread perhaps?

I've read nothing but great reviews about the RME Fireface 800. I think it sells for about $1400 though.

Oopsie. Dunno how that happened!! Sorry.

Edit: Seems that the original thread I was trying to answer has been deleted entirely before my response was posted.

RME and Apogee have been the two getting lots of praise...

I happen to think the Metric Halo units are some of the best interfaces anywhere at any price. The Mobile IO 2882 (8 analog & 8 digital in/out) or the ULN2 (2 in/out).

That, plus BJ and the guys at Metric Halo are super responsive and very active on the MIO mailing list. No problem is ever unaddressed.

For my money - I don't think I'd buy anything else. In fact, The MIO is the reason I dumped Pro Tools and moved over the the DP camp. The inerface is that good.

I have 2 RME 800 FF IOs and street costs a year ago was a bit over 1200 @ VKA. For the goddies you get and the sound quality, it's a bargain for sure.

These folks care about hi quality audio which I can say most DON'T in this price range.

BTW, each unit includes a 1x1 MIDI interface..

RME Fireface 800. The best $1500 I've spent. IMO, this is the best interface for the money. Of course, Apogee Rosetta is even better, but then it is $3000, so......

I have an MOTU HD192 and it's not like it sucks. :-) Besides, there is a Black Lion mod availablel for it I understand. Haven't done that yet, but might perhaps.

Hey Gary... here's a link:

http://www.blacklionaudio.com/motu_firewire_mod.html

You can also do a search on Unicornation for "Black Lion" and you should turn up some more. Some people have had the analog stage mods done and give it high marks. It's $250 to have the HD192 hot rodded. They do all the other MOTU interfaces as well including improved clock. Of course it'll void your warranty if you're still under it.

That substantiates everything I have said about the sound of the MOTU IOs and once again, I am in you debt. Thanks so much for the info James.

Sadly, my last HD192 is out the door and being sold wBay as we speak. Had I known,

I'm all RME now and fortunately, like the sound enough.
Will miss the metering though! oh, and the fan noise. ;)

Did you really not like it? I guess considering I'm coming from 1224-ville, it still sounds plenty good to me. Also, if I bounce to disk analog output issues shouldn't affect me. Of course the analog section on the *inputs* could have some bearing???

I wouldn't mind getting the mod done, but it used to be that he had a pretty long waiting list. I should re-enquire although the warranty issue is a concern.

Yes it's mainly the inputs. The 1296 inputs sound better IMO.
I think the mod only deals with OP which isn't that bad.

I really want Lynx 16 but alas, no FW or PCIe and they say not for a year.
Must sleep. thanks J
