Hello all,
Here my first impressions of my new MacBookPro 2GHz, 1,5 GB RAM, DP 5.1, 828mk2.

Running a project: 8 mono tracks, 24 bit, 44.1 on external FW Drive non-optimized (150 GB partition) chained on same FW channel with MOTU 828mk2.
Only stock plugins: 4xMW Limiter, 3x MW EQ, 1x Echo, 1x Delay, 1x AU Matrix (Best Quatity), 1x AU Delay.

1. On QS Dual 1GHz 10.4.7, 1,5 MB RAM: Processor Monitor (in Utilities) 110-116 %

2. On MBPro 2GHz 10.4.7, 1,5 MB RAM: Processor Monitor 50-60 %

Conclusion: I keep the MBPro :)

This shows the overall adequacy of these numbers :)

Well, it's a dual Processor... Then 100% means 1 processor full, the other free. It's the way the Monitor works, not me...

And maybe the numbers means nothing, but the difference between two systems on the same project.
Just that.

Don't the Macbook Pros also have CPU throttling? As I understand it the CPU doesn't run at full speed until it needs to, so that may effect the performance numbers. I'm no expert on this and could be totally wrong though.

It seems to me that a Macbook Pro should run better than twice as fast as a five year old G4. Maybe I'm expecting to much out of it.

It should and it does.
Again: these numbers are not very trustworthy.
