More plugins!

Post by brightscreamer »

Thanks to all who suggested the dist. plugins. They sound great!

I was wondering if you can tell me some of the (general purpose) best AU plugins out so that I may try incorporating them in my music.

Also, am I limiting my pool of resources by not trying to use a VST wrapper for VST plugins? I've read on here that they're not very stable. I want to try other types of plugins so as not to limit myself, but I don't know which ones I should stick with to avoid compatability issues.

Thanks again, guys! This is a very helpful forum!

i use th vst wrapper... well, i should say i bought the vst wrapper and i haven't used it since month one... i stick with AU and MAS and feel just fine and not limited at all... as a matter of fact, if they don't make an AU version of what I am looking at then I kinda feel like it's not worth my money anyways...

what kind of plug-ins were you looking for? dynamics? fx? instruments?

Rather than go through a long list of recommendations, why don't you just search on the web for "AU plug-ins" and download as many demos as you can? If you're not on a tight budget then there's really a huge variety of plug-ins out there.

As some long previous threads have pointed out, there are different opinions on plug-ins and their quality, and for every rave you get about any plug-in you are bound to read a post that is not a kind evaluation of that same plug-in. So, you really have to use your ears and see what you like.

I second this. You can test drive so many for free. Do it.

Yeah, and the UAD's probably worth every free plug out there (that'd be hundreds of them), put together!
I've got all the freebies, but I'd gladly trade 'em all for a UAD-1 card with an entry-level plug set.
