Raptor 10K drive and a DP 'Disk too slow' buffer error????

Post by TheCoalman »

Hey guys just wanted to throw this out there and see if anyone might know what's causing this....

I just purchased a WD Raptor 10K 16MB Buffer internal drive for my G5. The capacity is 76G. I loaded up a project that I've been working on for awhile and when I hit play it would go for a few bars and then stop. A DP error came up saying it couldn't read the buffer and said the disk was too slow....how in the world can this happen with a 10K rpm drive with 16M buffer? anyway, this seems odd and was wondering if anyone else was or has experienced this....oh sorry, my buffer in DP was set at 1024 with the host multiplier on 2, I have 3G of ram in my G5 2.7 DP, my track count is relatively low around 15-20

thanks in advance

I read somewhere recently (maybe on this site?) that there is an incompatibility between the 16mb raptors and the G5 SATA controller. I think the only solution was to get a SATA card, however you should probably do a search to see if anything more detailed comes up.
