pistoni:

I understand that the ties don't print on your printer.

Are you saying that ties do not appear in the PDF format or the Preview window on the computer?

Or are you saying that they appear on the computer but just not on the printer in all examples of QuickScribe, PDF and Preview?

Possible problems and solutions:

1. Raise the resolution of your printer to at least 300 dpi

2. There may be some printer font missing, but the screen font is in place.

The ties appear on computer ( on score of quickscribe), but dont appear in pdf and in printer and in the preview of printer.
i don't think is a font problem cause if a save the score as pdf i dont see the ties just on the screen of computer.
thx for you support as always...

Pistoni, what printers and printer drivers are you using? I just tried to a DeskJet and it's fine, and so is the PDF preview.

If you send me a copy of your DP project, I'll try it over here. PM me...

Jason--

Very cool of you to offer this for pistoni. This is among the best uses for the internet.

Bravo to you, my friend! Hope it all works out.

try to save the project as a midifile and try to print (pdf) from there, maybe everything shows up right in the score.
I had this problem too, saving and printing from the MIDI file helped.

Cheers pistoni-- niente affetto!

Okay. Summary:

1. The ties appear in QuickScribe
2. The ties do not appear when printed from DP.
3. The ties do not appear in PDF
4. The ties do not appear in print preview
5. The ties do not appear in the SMF

This is very strange.

The only other thing I can think to do is to uninstall DP and reinstall it. Something in DP is not exporting the data properly. You might want to open the Font Book and make sure all fonts are active before you reinstall DP.

But there is one other consideration: Sometimes OSX can be odd. It could be that DP displays what it displays, but the other print windows could be using the printer driver's specs to determine what gets displayed and what does not. I'm just not totally sure, but I had a problem some time ago (in Finale and not with DP). Finale tech support kept blaming the printer driver for the problem I was having. Some applications are not 100% compatible with all printers, and QuickScibe isn't exactly the most carefully featured notation utility.

I would suggest trying another printer if you can borrow one just for the sake of comparison.

I would also send a note to MOTU explaining the problem and all the solutions you have tried. It sounds to me that you are doing all the right things.

Could it be a font problem?

That's what I was thinking, Shooshie. If no fonts had been removed or deactivated, maybe a reinstall would do the trick? Earlier on, I'd wondered if the screen font survived but the print font did not, if there are such distinctions. I'm not sure how DP handles fonts, but perhaps some file that exports graphics from DP to the printer has gotten corrupted.

My other thought was that there appears to have been some installation issue with the DP 5.0 discs that first went out. MOTU is now shipping 5.01 discs, which I got and I haven't had many of the "layer 1" problems so many have been reporting. QS is behaving itself on this end so far...

It's working for me. From the PDFs pistoni sent it was the beams that weren't printing correctly. I opened the project in DP5.01, selected Print window, hit the Preview button and the PDF popped up with beams in place.

Pistoni, what version of OS X are you running?

Frodo, was it the ties missing in your test or the beams? Are we all talking about the same thing here?

I thought he was talking about ties. Was it pistoni who first reported that slurs weren't working, then said ties? Or was that someone else? I've seen beams misbehave, too, but it's been a long time.

Pistoni did report slurs/ties, but when I looked at his test PDF, the beams were missing.

Well, my english is not good so i'm talking about missing "beams" between notes..:)
So the Frodo's sumary is perfect but changing "ties" with "beams".
Jstaczek, i downloaded suitcase for the font but i didnt understand very well what i have to do.
i reinstalled DP 5.01 but the problem persist.
But, i think that maybe is my printer... the lexmark 515 with driver 1.0.7. (the last one) that doesnt work properly with DP 5.01
maybe i need to try with another printer.
i remember now that i had the same problem with DP 4.6.1 and Panther.
thx to you all.
