PCI 424 audio wire - how many outputs

Post by mircut »

I am having trouble with audio wire output 2 on my PCI 424 card in my G5 dual 2 Gig. It doesn't work.

I see that there are 4 outputs on the card, but the DP manual says there are 3. I haven't been able to get any sound output from the 4th slot and am wondering if it isn't an audio output (even though it looks just like the others). I was hoping to use Audio wire 4 as a workaround for one of my 2408s. It does show up in DP4.61.

I thought if it is an audio output, perhaps the reason I'm not getting audio out is a cue mix routing issue. Any help is greatly appreciated - of course it's a holiday week. Sigh.

I think I have the latest drivers - any other reason you think it might not be outputing audio?

With two audiowires connected, check to see if your host multipliers are set to 2...?

It should be set to 3. 424 counts as 1, 2408 -2, 2408 -3 etc...

Ah..

Setup > Configure Hardware Driver

This can also be accessed via the Hardware button on the Transport's horizontal pullout drawer.

thanks, I found it. But it still didn't work. Do the PCI outputs have to be in order? I tried skipping the problematic one but it didn't really change anything.

Yes. I'm not at my tower right now, but slot (socket) #1 on the card is the one closest to the ADAT sync port.

PCI 424 audio wire - how many outputs

It should be set to 3. 424 counts as 1, 2408 -2, 2408 -3 etc...
John
This is incorrect John. If only one 424 card is present buffer multiplier should be set to 1, as the system and MOTU view all devices attached to a single 424 or 324 card as one interface. The multiplier should only be higher than 1 if you are for example mixing a Firewire Interface like an 896 or third party device with a PCI-424 solution.
I am having trouble with audio wire output 2 on my PCI 424 card in my G5 dual 2 Gig. It doesn't work.
Make sure you have enabled all ports in the MOTU PCI Audio Setup.

Hope this helps
