PCI-E MOTU's sometimes don't sync on Mac startup

If this has been dealt with previously, I apologise. Sometimes (but so frequently as to be an issue) one, some, or all of my MOTU's remain blinking after starting up the Mac.

There seems to be no pattern to it: I've tried turning on the kit in different orders, but this doesn't seem to make any difference. I can solve the problem by switching them off, then on again, which usually rectifies the problem first time. Has anyone else experienced this, or have any suggestions as to how it can be avoided, please? It never seemed to happen, pre Quad/PCI-E.

I have: 3 2408 Mk3's and a 24 i/o. Thanks if you can help.

I'm in the same boat as well, seems to happen very randomly. Sometimes it works great, sometimes I have to turn off and on the 2408MK3 and then reload my configuration. Any help or suggestions on this would be great.

Oh, great! Thanks for that IIIG. I 'phoned my UK distributor yesterday and they suggested that the card might be faulty. But you're describing exactly my experience. That doesn't discount a fault, but I'm inclined to think that it isn't.

I don't really know what to do except turn them off and on, reload the config. and then everything's fine. Maybe it'll get fixed in a future update. It ain't really broken, just irritating.

I am running a Quad with a PCIe-424 and (2) 1224's and they seem to be working flawlessly. I have not encountered any problems at all with the 424 card it works much better than the 324 card I was using with a G4.

I did install the 424 card in the slot furthest from the graphics card just in case there were any RF issues. I am also using the latest drivers, the latest OS 10.4.7 and the latest Quicktime 7.1.2.

Hope this helps.

OK: I had a faulty card. I was also experiencing random pops, clicks and other audio errata (that I reported in another thread) , which I finally pinned down to the card. Reconnecting all my MOTU's to the PCI-X in the other Mac gave error-free performance.

The card was replaced and the problem has disappeared.
