Download location for old MOTU drivers?

Hey guys,

I've had wierd issues with my 828mkII including crackling, slowdown, outright not working, and my PC resetting when I turn the 828mkII off. There's a lot of mention of previous drivers (3.5.x.x?) which were more stable than those currently available but I've not been able to track them down anywhere. Does anyone have a download link or would be able to MSN them over?

Thanks in advance,
Matt

cool!

sorry to hitch on this thread but is there a link for the 1.0.5 drivers for the traveler anywhere too?

would it be possible to "downgrade" my firmware from 1.0.7 to 0.5?

thanks!

Hi,

Did you buy the MOTU as new? If so, the CD it came with should contain the older drivers; mine did and I bought it new a couple of weeks ago.

Incidentally since installing these drivers my MOTU appears to be stable (i.e. it doesn't reboot my PC at random!)

I'm running the original drivers as well. They give me none of the headaches that the updates do. It would be nice if the driver updates also came with detailed release notes, so we know what in them. I'm guessing that they are mostly to add support to new units (like the Traveler) but there is also the occational bug fix or new feature. No way to tell, though.

I bought my interface wihtin the last few weeks but the CD shipped with it contained the newest drivers I believe.

I'm still getting the issues I had before with the older drivers but troubleshooting'll have to wait until the end of exams I think. Then its a clean install and try hard to get the thing working reliably. Failing that I'll probably return it (thankfully the shop I got it from's great about returns like this) in exchange for something in the Focusrite, Digidesign and PreSonus lines, cant affort to keep hold of something so unreliable.

Ah well, time'll tell.

Matt.

Matt - if you do decide to move forward with an alternative interface, please stop back and close the loop and tell us how it worked out. It would be good to know if it was the MOTU or your system.

No. Firmware is hard coded in these.

You are showing v1.07 on an 828mkII?

I have never heard of any version besides v1.00, v1.01 and v1.02.

It appears many associated with this thread are windows users. What about older motu drivers for mac? Im experiencing some odd issues including wacky noise and one of three motus not appearing, at random. Usually a restart fixes but a few times I had to pull my hair out trying different things for some positive result.

I think I had to update motus when I upgraded to snow leopard.
Can anyone shed some light on this? THANKS.

I'd definitively head over to the MOTU site and log in, then download the latest drivers for all your MOTU stuff - both MIDI and audio. Then REPAIR PERMISSIONS. This last process has become very important of late with MOTU drivers in particular.

I have the latest driver 1.6. Would you repair permissions on all drives or just os drive? I write to two other drives. Thanks

I think you can only repair permissions on an OS drive. You can verify drives (all of this in Disk Utility) and that's not a bad thing either. You should also be sure to run the maintenance routines. There are free widgets as well as apps like Onyx (I think) that can do this.

Clean machines aren't just for Penny Lane!

I don't know if that's correct,I thought the same thing, this was a while ago maybe things have changed with newer OS's.
A friend of mine who's a Mac Tech(he maintains a Mac based server and magazine publishing companies system with 200 + Macs) and he ran disk permissions & repaired drives other than my boot drive when I asked him this, I never do this though, just the boot but I think you can do this on all drives.

OK, sump breath ☺ open disk utility and tell me you can repair permissions on a non OS drive. See what I'm sayin?

BTW, I sprung for the Steel Pedal Guitar this morning. Now I have Glide 2 and await the 2nd VI. Loving the Glide 2! Just what the Dr. ordered!!!
