hello I used EMU patchmix software today ! Its totally cool!

I really beleive MOTU should take a look at this and copy them!

You can route and mix anything ! such as stand alone (non rewire) soft synths and dj software directly into cubase whilst using the ins and outs of the sound card!

MOTU is totally limited from what i can gather!

for example to route non rewire software into cubase using a MOTU you have to send the signals out of the interface and back in (hard wire) to get audio into cubase! thats nuts!!! with EMU Patchmix you can just route it directly!

I can't be the only person that needs this flexability!!!

Im on the verge of switching to EMU ....but i will miss the expandabilty of the MOTU interface!

peace

Which I believe you can also do very easily with
Jack and a Motu interface, or
Soundflower from Cycling74.com and a Motu interface.

Jack is located at:
http://www.jackosx.com/

and soundflower at:

hello i emailed MOTU about patching stand alone software sythns (non rewire/vst) into cubase and got this reply regarding the motu Traveler

ME: hello (blah blahshort intro)

Q:With the E-MU soundcard serise there is a function called Patchmix DSP

MOTU : Yes it can.

 <<<im gonna be sick! i just got another email reply from MOTU.
hahah gota laugh tho! (at least i got a reply)

ME:> Dear Sir/Madam, I hope you are well.

MOTU *= No. The Traveler drivers are multi-client, but you can only use one driver at a time. Nuendo uses ASIO and as far as I know, Traktor uses WDM drivers. If Traktor could use the ASIO driver then the answer
would be yes, both applications could use the Traveler at the same
time.

ME:> This isnt possible on a 2408mk2 that I currently own.
> (i have to route out of the interface and back in hardwire to make it

*MOTU= Ah. So Traktor does use the ASIO driver then? In that case, the Traveler will work the same way as the 2408.

The drivers for MOTU interface provide input and output to the
computer. They do not provide an internal patch bay within the
computer.

You may also want to check with Nuendo to see if there is a way to pass
audio between the two appliactions regardless of the audio interface.

If I can be of further service, please let me know.

 what tha!??? I wonder how emu do it?? i used traktor as an example (stand alone synthy type thing) both traktor and steinberg products can use EMU ASIO at the same time!! so they can link up in the software patchbay mix.

awww well i'll stick to hard wiring from the out of the interface and back to the inputs ( latency and waste of in/outs ports tho but it works sort of)

asio4all seems to kill the performance of everything but at least im not the only person trying to get this to work!

toodelypip sorry i couldnt find the answer  ...im sure a few people will find this thread via google or something!

bwwyyeeee

thanks again sdfalk!

I have a vauge recollection of an app that's out there that does the same
thing in Windows that Jack/Soundflower does on the Mac.
If I can recall where/what it is, I shall post.
