DP5 will not install at all

Hi,
I spent a bit of time today reading over some of the board notes about DP5 and finally decided to go ahead and give it a whirl because I don't use any plug-ins (yet) and have a very simple studio. HOWEVER to my chagrin, the disk would not install at all. THe disk would open and 4 icons came up -- when I double clicked on the install icon --- nothing happens. I had repaired my permissions before trying the installation. Here are my specs:
OSX 10.4.6 G5 dual processor
Motu MIDI Driver kext 1.3.2 (dated 1/27/06)
Motu FIrewire Audio.kext 1.4.1 (dated 2/10/06)
Mote PCI Audio. kext 1.0.9 (dated 4/25/05)
There are 2.5 GB of RAM
I have an HD 192
I have been running 4.6.1 with no problems ---
I am a rank beginner with this, but certainly just trying to install the program shouldn't be difficult. I have written to MOTU tech support also.
Any clues? I ordered it from MOTU as an upgrade.
Thanks

First, email from MOTU usually takes a few wekks, so CALL!
You might try copying the files to your HD and running them from there with the disk in the drive. Haven't heard of this problem beofre, but have had similar experiences with Adobe Acrobat (pro).
Did you do do the competitive upgrade? If so, perhaps they sent the wrong disk?

This seems to be a growing issue:

You might want to call MOTU tomorrow.

Thanks for the great ideas. I did not order the competitive upgrade. I thought about dragging things onto my hard drive and opening from there --- but I am taking this as a sign to wait a bit ---- at least until I talk with a MOTU tech support person. I have always had great luck working with their support people. And believe me they DO have to work hard when they talk with me!!! We usually have a good laugh over this that and the other! and do solve the problems. It's a thankless job being in tech support anywhere I'm sure.

Well it's possible that there is a bad batch of CD pressings. Let us know how this situation gets resolved.

Partially OT--
I don't recall if the actual files are compressed on the install CD, but if there are write errors, then I wonder if some of the files on other *working* discs could have gotten corrupted in some way, which might have led to some of the problems people are having? The issues just seem either too numerous for the "new and improved" version of DP-- or I'm still too optimistic with my expectations...

I've had a similar problem••¦
The software installs fine on my home Mac (a mini ••“ go on, laugh) but won't run, just keeps falling over.
Tried installing on the G5 at work and it stops at the same point, citing a 'disk error'.
startup problems with DP5

Just read your note. I installed Dp 5.0 and I have that problem too. Everytime I start it it loads all the audio plugins and after the last one which is TriPan.bundle an error message"unexpected error (-5000)" appears and that's as far as it goes. Tried numerous things like repairing permissions, starting with the shift key(No loading of audio plugins), uninstalling, reinstalling both dp4.61 and Dp5.0, the same for the plugins and nothing worked. Although Dp4.61 is running fine with all those PlugIns. Can somebody please tell me what to do?

Target a guided missile at Motu's HQ••¦or move to Logic?
Motu's really driving me bonkers at the moment. DP5 simply doesn't work.
