Hi, I bought the DP5 upgrade a couple weeks ago, but only just tonday had a chance to install it, and when I did, what should be the DP5 application doesn't have an icon and tells me it is a console document. I opened up the package contents and was able to run the digital performer executable, but I'd like to know if anyone has run into this problem as well with this specific upgrade or with previous upgrades. Is there a solution? I'm going to wait for responses before I go ahead and do anything hasty.

Did you get it on DVD? If it was shipped to you by MOTU, the disk should open up to an installer. Click the installer, and it installs an application--DP5--along with its folder and assorted support folders. So, no... you should not be looking at an executable. Something's wrong there. Call MOTU.

My installer is on a disc and i ran it and it installed it into a new folder, but what should be the digital performer app icon is not registered as an application. It's beginning to sound like a call to motu is a good idea. If they have any insight into this, I'll post again in case someone else has this problem and tries searching the forum for it.

Try repairing permissions.

Maybe try renaming the "Digital Performer 5.0" file to "Digital Performer 5.0.app".

...and it's carrythebanner for the win. the official response was to add .app to the end of the filename. the icon immediately turned into the dp5 icon. all is well.

hey boink:

Wow, that went on for several days-- glad you got it working.

That's really odd with that install glitch not putting on the proper extension, though. Makes me wonder if there shouldn't be some sort of install verification feature-- and if there is why it didn't work.

If you just delete the .0 it works too. It looks like the .0 confuses the OS. I've seen 3 computers with DP 5 installs, 2 no problems 1 had the problem.
