question about the new macbook

I recently sold my titanium g4 800 powerbook to make way for the macbook pro. Since dp is not ready for the mactells I held of on buying a macbook pro (since I wanted to wait a generation or 2) now comes these "macbook", the equivelent ot the I book......

The specs seem almost impressive with a 667 front side buss/ 2 gigs of ram, etc...

With my titanium 800 and only 3/4 gigs of ram and only a 133 buss speed, I had a pretty fuctional machine for my needs running Dp/reason/powercore firewire with virus........

Am I way off base to assume that a macbook not a macbook pro at only $1400 ($1000 cheaper than a macbook pro) loaded with ram of course would smoke my titanium 800 to the point of not missing the "mac book pro"........

At some point a few years ago I got out of the "spec" game and back into making music so I feel like I am pretty much a newbie all over with the "tech/spec"

any advice, comments, insults, or opinions?

thank you for reading.

You are way _on_ base.

You give up 0.16 MHz max CPU speed.
You give up the bto 7200 rpm hd option.
You give up a pci-e ATI card for an integrated GPU.
You give up FireWire800.
You give up ExpressCard, or whateve the new cardbus protocol is.
You give up screen real estate.

Nothing critical imo.

I think it's almost a no-brainer for what you describe.

Plus you can get the cool BlackMac...is it worth the 150-dollar premium? Used one yesterday at Apple SoHo, and I have to say it and the 20Gb extra space more than make up for the price diff.

Just bump the memory up as the video shares your RAM.

I'd do 2GB for sure. and then comes the UB wait for real speed in DP.
