Using 002r with DP5

I know that this is not ideal, to use a Digi interface with DP, but I had it at least working marginally with 4.6.
I get nothing but instant crashes when I try it with DP5 and my 002r.
Any idea why?

I use the same combination and I don't have crashes at all. The only problems I have is when the Digi Core Audio Manager was set to a different sample rate than the project I'm opening in DP 5. (It did the same thing in 4.61 also.) For example, if I was working in Pro Tools LE at 48k, after quitting Pro Tools LE, if I open a 44.1k project in DP, I get an error message that says something like "the hardware changed its status". Usually DP will say it's going to use MIDI only, and then if I turn MAS back on, everything works fine.
Remember that this only happens when changing sample rates (for me). My work around has been to manually open the Digi Core Audio Manager and choose the correct sample rate before opening DP. Most of the time it's not a problem since I usually just work at 48k.
Food for thought. Hope this helps somehow!

so can Digi 002(mixer not rack) be also used as a control surface mixer in DP like in pro tools, what im trying to say will all the function of the digi002 work in DP or only using the pre's/analog and MIDI's will work, thanks!

The problem is here somewhere. I am trying to run a session at 48khz.
But I am also trying to get DP to lock to an Apogee Rossetta 96. I should be choosing DAE, not MAS...right? I always get an error when I set Internal to ADAT.
I tried changing the Core Audio Manager to 48khz but DP still hated it and shut down the audio. On the 3rd try i got the dreaded veil of death saying "Your Mac has encountered a problem. You need to re-start your computer!"
I hate it when that happens!!
Not sure I should mess with this too much. My Pro Tools has been running flawlessly. Might need to go buy an Ultra Light or Traveller.
I hate spending money!!

I'm pretty sure DAE is only for Pro Tools HD systemts. With an 002R, you should be using MAS.
I looked into this when I was considering getting an 002R, and while I didn't get one, I'm pretty sure this is the case. Check the manual and MOTU support to make sure.

I am running DP 4.61 on Tiger 10.4.3 with a Digi 002R - I'd be willing to bet that the problem is that you are selecting DAE, if that is what your doing, because DAE is only for when you are using DP as a front end to an HD rig. Otherwise, you should be using MAS. I think I chose DAE by accident once and it crashed DP immediately. Hope that helps.

Same here. I have no luck trying DAE with my configuration. MAS works fine though. I'm very happy, since I can run DP, Logic, or other DAW's, plus I get Pro Tools LE. That was my rule. One piece of hardware that would work with most DAW's.
