Hey Guys,

I just bought a Quad 4x2,5GHZ and i am very pissed with it
I jused to work with a PCI 421 and Motu 24i/o on my very old PC and it just worked fine (Under Windows 2000 muhahahaha)
My best Latency In and Out together was 3ms (AMAZING)

No on my f***ing MAC with my f***ing PCI-X and the same 24i/o my best latency is 5,6 ms!!!

Whats wrong...? This is just can't be true!!!
PCI X should be faster and the Mac also !!!


I am thinking of selling all this crab and buy me a good old Studer instead

The Latency is a core audio issue. But at 64 samples of latency you should be fine. Also with a PCI 424 card the DSP helps eliminate all forms of input latency.

I have been PCI 424 since December of 2002 and the only place I notice Latency is with DP and Virtual Instruments. With Logic 7 and a buffer size of 512 or even 1024, I notice zero latency with my virtual instruments. I believe the issue to be a DP noticable issue only.

SO far as recording live inputs. I have not noticed any audible (maybe 7 samples or less) latency. Not sure what you are dealing with besides number crunching.

Personally I keep my bufferrs high in DP for mixing purposes. Tracking audio is not an issue due to auto input monitoring, etc.....

Quad and Dual Core G5s = PCI-e

Earlier G5 = PCI-X or PCI, depending on model

PCI card compatible w PCI, PCI-x

PCI cards not compatible w PCI-e, which is the slot you have if you have quad g5

Yes sorry that was my fault, i know it's a PCI e Card...
And that's totally fine, it's just slower than my old pci card!!!!

And I know about buffersizes ect. (Usually i work with ProTOOLS, or APOGEE at work!!!SAME CRAP!!!) but i want 3 ms latency and 24 channels 96khz realtime recording (SO I CAN WORK WITH THE TAPERETURN SIGNAL)!!!!!!

and that's not possible with cubase sx3.0 motu 24i/o pci e G5 QUAD!!!!

Dude, that's ugly, wrecks the 'vibe', and I've no doubt it would affect both the speed, number and quality of responses you receive!

I am not a person who swearing all the time, but if u all knew what the responding of motu, macintosh ect. ect. to my problems and questions was u all would feel the same way
