export to wav - problems

Post by beaudette »

I have exported individual tracks to wav files and burned to a cd. I then double checked the files by reimporting them from cd back to DP3, and everything is great. Problem is that when I get to the office - to my pc computer - the cd appears empty, even though I thought wav files were generic. Is there an additional step I should be taking when exporting?

I have the same problem and sometimes it shows up and sometimes it does not. When I go from Mac to PC I like to save my audio (ie wave,aiff,mp3) as a data disk instead of an audio cd.

I think if I could save the files as audio it would solve the problem, but the wav files remain hidden unless I switch to 'make data cd'. Any ideas?

I think the issue here is you are burning a data CD for Mac only (unless I didn't read something right). If you are using Toast to burn a CD, do you have an option to make a Mac -and- PC data disc? I know that feature is in current versions of Toast. Then you would be able to read the CD on either platform.
If you burn an audio CD, it should be platform independent.
I apologize if I misunderstood something.

This happened to me a while back sharing wavs with some of my pc totiing peeps. I talked to motu. I learned theres a stupid bug in the way DP exports .wavs since dp 4. You can use anohter program that doesn't rely on OSX's core audio export features or you can use a program on the PC to import/export the aifs. Basically DP's wav export is broken. Have fun.

Sorry, I just re-read your post. If you're using DP 3 to export it shouold be ok, I dunno.....
