Is chicken systems the only way to convert EXS banks on a hard drive into Mach V format? UVI only works with CDs, is that correct?
thanks, sorry if this has been covered.....

I 've converted stuff for EXS24 to MAchfive with UVI converter that comes with M5 and not just from CD's.

thanks. can you tell me more about how you direct UVI to translate from a folder on a drive, and not from a physical CD?

samples not from CD

Just click on the folder that you want on the left that has your samples in it. Then you have to click on the appropriate sample converter (GIGA, EXS24 etc.-this is crucial otherwise nothing will show) Assuming you have the correct samples from the correct sampler they should show up in one of the windows. (list of instruments and possibly the samples as well.) Then proceed as you would any other to convert the samples to Mach5.

One extra tip (that might not apply in your case). I was having lots of trouble converting EXS in UVI - sample after sample reported by UVI as missing.
With MOTU Tech's help, I discovered that one of the Mach 5 updaters had kept an older version of UVI (4.1.3) installed, while installing the correct, later version (1.2 - yes, I know the numbering seems backwards!) in the wrong place.
Once I started using the correct version of UVI (1.2), EXS converted perfectly, with a single "scan" at the start for it to successfully find the samples.

PS If you have trouble launching UVI from within M5 after removing the 'wrong' version of UVI, just put the UVI app in the dock and launch it from there.
