64 bit drivers for MIDIExpress XT
Hello all. I'm new to the group, but I have an "ancient" bit of hardware that I want to continue using. A cursory scan of MOTU's site and this forum doesn't seem to indicate what the state of development is for 64 bit drivers. I have a parallel port MIDIExpress XT (remember parallel ports?) that I would like to use with 64 bit Sonar under a 64 bit OS. Can I get there from here or am I going to have to start over again with a different vendor?

If you have an RS422 ("network") port, you may be able to chain your XT off of a USB interface.
It's kind of funny, because when I realized that my mac quadra was no longer fashionable and I would have to give up my serial MTP , I emailed MOTU and asked if I could do precisely this. I figured it would be expensive, but kind of cool to have a MTP with sixteen MIDI ports. However, I was told that no, you cannot network a USB timepiece with an old serial/parallel timepiece.
Then after I bought my micro express (which has no network port), I found this document on MOTU's web site:

Whoops.

While that is interesting, it doesn't address the question I had. I'm currently running Sonar 5 under WindowsXP SP2 and I'm successfully using the parallel port to talk to my MIDIExpress XT. What I want to do is run in 64 bit Windows with 64 bit Sonar, which requires 64 bit drivers on all the I/O devices.Sticky Fox wrote:If you have an RS422 ("network") port, you may be able to chain your XT off of a USB interface.

Well, what I was trying to say was this:dantarbill wrote:While that is interesting, it doesn't address the question I had. If you can't get 64-bit drivers for your parallel interface, but you can get 64-bit USB drivers, you may have an option that doesn't include auctioning your XT for ten bucks.

Ok then...are there 64 bit USB drivers?Sticky Fox wrote:Well, what I was trying to say was this:dantarbill wrote:While that is interesting, it doesn't address the question I had.
