Hey all,
I've been using my ultralite for a little over a week now and have had nothing but great results with it thus far.
Today I went to sync up my Akai MPC with it and much to my surprise the Ultralite is not showing up in my MIDI device manager in the AMS. Does anybody have anyclue wh it would not be here or how I can get this setup so that i might sync the MPC with DP. I used to be able to do this fine with my Echo interface.
thanks

First check that the proper extenion and driver files were installed correctly.
For audio I assume you definitely have:
[Macintosh HD]/System/Library/Extensions/MOTUFireWireAudio.kext
But for the MIDI part of the UL (or 828mkII, or any other MOTU MIDI interface) you also need:
[Macintosh HD]/System/Library/Extensions/Motu MIDI Driver.kext
and
[Macintosh HD]/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers/Motu MIDI Driver.plugin
If any of these files are missing you should reinsall using the latest MOTU FW driver (or "Universal Audio", which is what I think they're calling the download on their website). Or if those files are where they're supposed to be you could try trashing them and then reinstalling.
Good luck!

ok, i do not have the MOTU MIDI DRIVER on my system, its not here,
[Macintosh HD]/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers/Motu MIDI Driver.plugin
I ran the installer again last night, using a custom install you only have the options to install the fw audio driver, audiodesk and audiodesk plugins.
Can anybody tell me what installer i need to run to get the MIDI driver? I though of installing the usb MIDI sodtware fromt he MOTU downloads page but this not being a usb device makes me hesitant.
ugh

Hey donaldm,
I have a feeling that you may have another MIDI Drivers folder in your home directory (HD/Users/Your Name/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers), that is confusing the MOTU installer.
If my guess is correct:
Simply delete the MIDI Drivers folder in your home directory and re-run the MOTU Audio Installer or drag the Motu MIDI Driver.plugin from your home directory MIDI Drivers folder to HD/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers.
Restart your computer and open Audio MIDI Setup and Rescan your setup.
Keep us posted...
