Could someone identify the fastest Mac that can accept a 424 card?
Thanks,

IIRC, models after the G5 Dual 2.7 have PCIexpress which is not compatible with older versions of the 324 or 424 cards.
MOTU does have a PCIexpress card available now (as a $295 USD upgrade) .... which could go in a Quad.

Thanks for the info! Now that's a real dilemma....

Double check it just in case. I think there was a similar thread in here last week.
Not only does a bunch of stuff give you more than one "style" of PCI slot on-board, but there's also cards, and (I believe) slots, which can run more than one type. The 424/G5 is a "universal" (runs in X slots or old 32bit slots).
Good Luck

FWIW the PCIe-424 card is available with new core systems too; but if you've already got a MOTU PCI system then I suppose you'd need the $295 upgrade if you have a dual-core Mac.
Anyway, the fasted Mac that is compatible with the PCI-424 (non-Express) is the dual processor 2.7gHz G5. These use PCI-X slots.
The fastest Mac overall is, of course, the quad 2.5gHz which, as prism points out, is compatible with the PCIe-424 card.
All of the dual-core Macs contain only PCI Express slots, so the only way to use a MOTU PCI-based interface with any of them is if you've got a PCIe-424 card.
