Clock freeze, slow media eject

I've had two minor but annoying issues crop up recently on my G5 Dual 2.3Ghz which I bought last summer.

Occasionally the clock freezes, and I have to restart.

About the same time I got the first clock freeze, media began taking a lot longer to eject - CD's, USB jump drives, SmartMedia cards, etc. The slow eject situation is constant, not intermittent.

Anyone with anyone tips - any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Never mind, I found the problem. It was my USB printer! About the same time the problems started I also began noticing a high-pitched whine coming from my G5 - loud enough to be annoying during mixing, even with the computer tucked away. I unplugged my HP 4200 printer from the USB hub and the noise went away, the slow media eject problem disappeared and I've had no clock freezes.

Guess I'll just plug in my printer when I need to print something - also annoying, but not near as annoying as the noise or the eject problems.

I don't have a HP 4200 printer however I've read that there were a number of issues with Hewlett Packard (HP) printers under Mac OS X 10.4.x (Tiger). The suggested solution was to re-install the HP software.
