Melodyne on sale again

Although it is on the upgrades, it is easy to buy a lower priced version and then upgrade it to 4 Studio for a total overall savings. I did that when I first got into Melodyne and saved a few hundred dollars in the process.

https://shop.celemony.com/cgi-bin/WebOb ... 29.23.5.39

The above site is in British pounds. Sweetwater has those same prices in US$
https://www.sweetwater.com/store/search.php?s=melodyne
as does AudioDeluxe

If all you need is pitch correction, DP is good and there are many others. Nothing else can do what 4 Studio does and if you need that functionality, nothing less will do.

I opted-in and downloaded these two plugins (which look great) but can't get DP to recognize either one. My iLok Manager sees Hybrid and claims it's activated. I installed both as AUs and I can see them in the Components folder.

Anyone else having this problem? Any suggested cures?

Thanks!

Have you tried restarting your machine? Seems to be de rigueur for plugs these days.

I did get these 2 freebies working. I think a restart helped. Hybrid 3 would not pass AU validation, but I activated it anyway and seems to be working okay. Not bad for free.

Plug-in Sales and Special Deals Sticky Topic

On sale for $10. Normally $49. Not sure how useful this will be but passing it along:

https://www.bozdigitallabs.com/product/mongoose/

Here's the description from their website. I've bolded the part that explains exactly what the plug does:
Here’s the deal: Having a nice wide stereo spread is great. It helps your mix sound more spacious and less cluttered. Instruments seem to fight less and everything just sounds more clear. But our brain reacts differently to a wide stereo spread in high frequencies than it does in low frequencies. Large stereo spread in high frequencies = good. Large stereo spread in low frequencies = not so good.

The problem exists because of the way our ears and brains are used to hearing sounds naturally. With low frequencies, we can’t really detect where a sound is coming from. It’s the high frequencies that lets us know where a sound is coming from.

This can lead to some major issues when mixing on monitors. You might have some low frequencies that are coming out of only one speaker, and you won’t be able to tell. Put on headphones, and it becomes immediately obvious that there is a problem. You can feel your head instinctively turn as your brain tries to figure out why the low end sounds so unnatural.

This is where Mongoose comes in. It takes all those wide low frequencies and puts them right in the middle where they belong. The result is a low end that translates better to headphones and 2.1 systems, and just provides a tighter, more natural sound overall.

This plugin really couldn’t be any easier to use than it is. Just set your crossover frequency, and everything below that is summed to mono. You can also fine tune how wide the stereo image is by adjusting the width knobs. This is the kind of plugin that should automatically be on every master bus.

Me too. I opted in as well in exchange for the 2 free plugins, but there's no way DP's AU testing passes the Hybrid 3. I re-installed, restarted, etc., to no avail.

Similar experience. I couldn't get these to the point of usability, and gave up on them.

I am surprised hearing that. Can Macs use the VST versions? Hybrid is one of my rock-solid go-to plugins with low CPU hit and a vast number of sounds here on the PC.

Curiously, BOTH plugins were read and accepted by both, Live 10 and VE Pro. Both loaded fine in them.
It was DP the only one who refuses to accept them in its scanning.

I can see the VST versions there, but that would mean I'd have to change my preferred format to VST instead of AU, and I don't want that :boohoo:

No you don't. Just leave the preferred format to AU, but check the VST version in the plugin list in Preferences. It will be available after it is scanned. You can have as many VSTs as you like. I don't even remember what the point of specifying a preferred plugin format was. Maybe if you have both formats, it presents only the preferred one when you load a plugin. Something like that. And you can't use both formats of a single plugin at the same time.

Bayswater is correct, my preferred format is VST but I use plenty of AU plugs as well. ;-)
