I couldn't see if it is AS/M1 native. There are windows VSTs.
Not Native, but works well in Rosetta and doesn't use a lot of CPU. Nice find!
I made a little donation, and mentioned M1/AS. The developer said he planned to do a native build soon. He said he's a windows guy and hasn't gone through some $tep$ for Apple development. He also gave me some tips/links for getting around the non-notarized plugins. (Let me know on this thread if those links would be useful.)

Talk about an easy process:

A. Visit page.
B. Oh, there's the download link, click.
C. Done.

What? You don't want my email? Create account? Sign up for newsletter? Click all the buses, cars, traffic lights, crosswalks? Nope.

It was almost disconcerting.

What a coincidence! I actually made a post about a video I found on YouTube that seems to be the best method I've encountered so far for dealing with it. It's pretty simple and it just works. You need to use the Terminal.

Here's the topic:

http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=72872

I linked to his video, but below it I distilled it down in to some hopefully easy to follow instructions. You can rinse and repeat for each format (VST, VST3, AU) of the "problem plugin."

Molotok Compressor by Tokyo Dawn Labs - FREE

Post by James Steele »

Cool little freebie I just saw on another YouTube video. It's also M1 native (except for AAX)

https://www.tokyodawn.net/tdr-molotok/
Molotok, a simplified version of TDR Molot GE, is a musically characterful dynamics processor. Meaning “Small Hammer” in Russian, Molotok provides a rich range of exciting compression colors at your fingertips.

While Molotok doesn’t emulate any “vintage” device, its sound and behaviour was definitely inspired by their most interesting musical peculiarities. This flexibility makes it a rewarding choice for almost any source in the mix, be it drums needing more crisp and impact, solidification and enrichment of vocals, or the enhancement of guitar and bass recordings of all types.

Molotok relies on the same algorithms as its larger edition, Molot GE. As with all TDR plugins, Molotok employs state of the art audio processing technology keeping unwanted distortion under strict control. An intuitive and well documented user interface offers quick access to all relevant parameters in a rewarding manner. Several helpers such as unlimited undo/redo, optional stepped controls, inline help tips and many more features help the operator achieve consistent results within a short time.

Notable Features
  • Full featured dynamics compressor
  • Eleven musically intriguing compression flavour nuances
  • Different quality modes including zero-latency operation
  • High quality signal processing

Tone Projects Basslane

Post by James Steele »

https://www.toneprojects.com/basslane.html
Basslane is the improved version of the original freeware classic used in countless productions to control the stereo width of low frequencies on tracks and mixes.

It's a handy utility that allows you to narrow the stereo width of frequencies below a defined threshold. The unique Side Harmonics feature adopted from Basslane Pro allows you to inject upper bass harmonics to add definition and pseudo bass width without problematic stereo content in the subs. The easy-to-use interface combines helpful metering and flexible monitoring for precise fine-tuning.

Are we concerned that installing this delete all your other waves plugins, as per your earlier posts about waves?

I never said it would delete “all my other Waves plugins.” What would happen is any time I used Waves Central to install or update a plug-in it would delete the version 9 WaveShell component in the Components folder. So if you still have v9 plug-ins, you should save a backup copy of that WaveShell file. Don’t just archive it and leave in the Components folder but move it somewhere else. If you don’t have version 9 waves plugs on your system it doesn’t matter AFAIK. I updated all my Waves stuff to version 14 when I got my Mac Studio.

Yes, I remember it well. When it happened to me, the Waves tech support person told me that when installing a plugin at version X, any plugins at earlier versions, would be removed. He did not restrict this to version 9 versus 10+. So I anticipate the same might happen if you have V12 and install a V13 plugin and so on.

That might not be that case, but either way, I think it would be useful to alert people to the issue when mentioning a deal for a Waves plugin.

All I remember is it only affected version 9. And I have a lot on my plate. I can try, but I can’t always remember the idiosyncrasies of each manufacturer or assume responsibility for what Waves does. Anyway, you mentioned it, but as I recall, what happened to me and what I posted originally was that it deleted the v9 WaveShell component. That might have changed since then but I don’t know and have no way of knowing.

BPB Dirty LA Free Vintage Limiting Amplifier Plugin

Post by James Steele »

This is a freebie that's probably not to unlike many of these type of plugs, but what's kinda cool is it has a "Dirt" setting and you can dial in some pretty cool grit/saturation that works pretty well on aggressive rock bass guitar as was show in some examples in the YouTube video on the page. It's Windows and Mac. Mac version available in AU and VST3 and is M1 native. Very small CPU usage.

I like to add a little distortion on basses, even upright now and then.

Thanks for the heads up!
