amplidood wrote:Well, I agree with your other points, just not that one. I really like the visual contrast between the sends section and the rest of the board. It makes the eye quickly able to identify different controls associated with each area. I have, however, made some contrast adjustments that may change your opinion.

Please don't throw strawberry pimple juice at me but that looks like it's a color with a white overlay on it. Looks like fog. A color that's halfway to becoming saturated.

In the Applications/Utilities folder is something called Digital Color Meter. Very useful for impromptu color gathering. Maybe you already use it.

If you take the very bottom (fader color: #727272) and apply it to the top you'll have all the contrast you'll need to differentiate the top from the middle and it will still look integrated. Or you could take the middle color (#848484) apply it to the top and bring it down to 787878 (splitting the difference between the two existing colors.

Trust me. I once met a guy who knew somebody with Photoshop. ;)

You misunderstood me. I meant I didn't agree with you on the point of the color of the Sends section. I agreed about the zit. And it's fixed. Please take it easy with the over explaining...it comes across as condescending. Which I don't deserve.

Okay, sorry. That was not my intention at all. I just thought, honestly, that the top of the mixer looks hazy. Maybe I should have stopped there last time. :)

Just so it's clear, I really did agree with you about the "haziness" of the sends section, but not the color of it. I sharpened up some contrasts on it. That was a great point.

Okay, please arm yourself, I have a comment you may not like: that bluish gray is found nowhere else on that screen, and therefore it looks detached and out of place, artistically. It doesn't mean you're a bad person. ;)

That's what I meant though - if you made it look like it belonged to the colors below it, it would look better.

Most gear in a studio looks pretty detached, artistically speaking.....
And technically, a variation is found in the pans.

I don't mind comments about this stuff. I'll take or leave them as I see appropriate. Just be careul about attaching all this stuff to them that suggests I'm not "artistic" enough to understand what you are saying.

Sorry, I sometimes forget what it's like to have other people leaning over my work and treating me like a student. I make my living from graphic art/web design, so of course I'm a little opinionated. I don't mean it to be demeaning. I think I'm generally misunderstood because I just write without being afraid to say what I think. Guess that doesn't always go over...

It's cool man. Thanks for saying that. Like I said, your suggestions have been really great. I'm no pro graphics guy, for sure, so feel free to keep making them.

How much would you charge me if I asked you to try for a moment to change the top around the insert windows to #6B6B6B? Just post it if you like it.

You know it's funny man. The graphics are there... Hm, that gives me an idea....
Yeah, the graphics for the old colors are there. All over the place. It's just the meters are all tied to that Default Style XML document. Getting rid of the meter parameters, setting them to zero, nothing seems to work. I believe that the numbers stand for R:G:B, but I'm not sure if there's a parameter for opacity. I tried adding another zero on the end, like

126:126:126:0

....thinking that may set the opacity to zero, just in case the old graphics are still being used and are just covered by these new parameters. Didn't work.

I don't really have anything to add but I just wanted to mention that I love this thread. I've been enjoying every minute of it, Amplidood. The send knobs on the current version are nice and clear, by the way. Very easy on the eyes.

Thanks, again. :!:

Tried it. Waaaaaaay too dark. All the variations of gray are just not working for me. On a real console, there are different colors for different sections of the board all the time. Feels very realistic to do something like that. Not to mention making it easy for the eye to jump around.
