On my 5th attempt. Each time it downloads a little more, but never finishes. Anyone actually get this installed?
I had better luck with the direct download links instead of the ASC downloads. At the bottom of the page:

Thanks. I’ll leave it for a while, then try the direct link.
EDIT: I don't think it was a server problem. It's their app. After 3 days and 6 attempts I had an accumulated download of 71% with the app. With the direct link, I had the whole thing downloaded, installed and running in about 5 minutes. The app needs work. I posted a comment at their support link.

VSL "Soft Imperial" Amazing Freebie Piano

When freebie pianos come up, I ignore them because I love Pianoteq and The Grandeur, and they cover the bases so nicely.

However, today I saw Vienna is offering a free Bösendorfer Imperial sample instrument. It's in the soft/darker category, so nice for soft ballads and more "introspective" kinds of pieces (i.e, not a cutter). It's quite nice. Quite different than PT & Grandeur.

Here are the hoops: Make a Vienna Symphonic Library acct (if you don't already have one). "Buy" the freebie (in your cart, etc). Then you need to download the Vienna Assistant app. You also need the iLok License Manager app. With the Vienna Assistant, you download the Soft Imperial, and the Synchron Player (which is the free player for the instrument). At some point, you have to link Vienna to your iLok, so you can authorize. The whole thing didn't take very long.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm always a sucker for yet another Imperial library and this brings some nice sounds to the party. I also downloaded the other two freebies.

Installation and authorization went smoothly with one minor hiccup. There was no VSL Content folder at my destination after running the assistant and Instrument installers. When I went to install the actual libraries, there was no destination. All was fine after I created a new folder and named it.

I ran into the exact same snag, but I wasted no time creating the folder it said it couldn't find. At least they made it easy.

I have no experience with VSL products, but I've just spent about 7 hours trying to install the Soft Imperial and the Celestial Strings. I've activated them in iLok, I've downloaded the Vienna Assistant and Synchron Player. I download the "Hello Free" instruments to the folder I've selected on the drive. I open Synchron player...nothing. I scan the database...nothing. I open Vienna assistant and it says these products are not installed. Wash, rinse, repeat. I haven't had such a hard time with an installation since I tried to install Miraslav Phil from IK Mutimedia. What am I doing wrong?

Don’t enable “Download Only Checked” in the preferences. Done.

Panflow by Audiomodern

Panflow by Audiomodern is a creative panning modulator plugin in VST, VST3, AU and AAX formats.

The plugin is designed to shape complex, evolving panning patterns and add random, rhythmical movement to any audio track in real-time.

Create instant fluid motion with precise stereo editing, with an easy-to-use interface and powerful pattern editor. Give your audio a more lively, dynamic feel, or add dynamism to any static sound.

Panflow is endlessly variable and endlessly interesting.
UPDATE: Gotta say... this is a fun and fairly intuitive auto panner plug... quite interesting and definitely get it... it's free. You have to download with the Pulse Downloader, etc. and give up an email, but I think this one is worth it.

It's free and works with Kontakt Player, so you don't have to have the full version of Kontakt to use this.

Nice. Because it has a serial#, it shows up in Native Access. The Heavyocity downloader let me put it where I wanted and NA found it easily.

Yeah... you have to launch Native Access after installing with the Heavyocity downloader and then enter the serial number in Native Access and then "Install Library." It came up by default with the correct directory, but I had to do this little dance and change directories and change back to turn the "Open" button blue.

One thing I noticed is the default patch had some low end "thump" on every note... at least coming through my JBL4410s. I'd probably run an EQ after it and take out some low end. There are some nice patches in it though... had fun with those and putting Black Hole after it for some trippy ambiences.

Fluffy Audio has FREE Koto library for Kontakt

Just got an email in my in box from Fluffy Audio. They have released a free Koto library. You can get it here:

https://www.fluffyaudio.com/shop/khim/

From the email notice:
We've just released RARITIES #3: KHIM, a FREE Koto library for Kontakt 5 (and above).

The history of the Thai instrument Khim meets many countries: first Persia, then China, then brought to Thailand and finally introduced to Lao and Cambodia. It derives from the Persian santur and is similar to the hammered dulcimer or cimbalom. The Khim is made up of fourteen string triplets, each triplet composing what is called a note. It’s played with two flexible bamboo sticks with soft leather beater at the tips to produce a soft tone, the sound is brilliant but also very engaging.

649f44ff-dbf5-a01a-4e90-bf944e85a70c.png (263.67 KiB) Viewed 2041 times

Features:

5 Articulations
3 Mic Positions
2.7 GB installed (compressed in NCW format)
1554 Samples
24 bit / 48 kHz stereo
Filter cutoff controlled by modwheel (Sustain and Stops articulations)
Dynamic volume controlled by modwheel (Tremolos and Rolls articulations)
Velocity Control Curve
12 Reverb Presets
UPDATE: This is a GREAT little free library. It has articulations and a version that lets you make the tone brighter with the Mod Wheel. Also, it has full light guide support on the Komplete Kontrol series of keyboards, EXCEPT for some reason when running in the standalone Kontakt app. I wrote to the developer about that. But nice sounding freebie!!
