That was pretty cool, indeed.

Back "off topic" on the ON topic-

Doesn't anyone find it strange that there are not more Fab Four mp3 demos by this time?

This thread just never does end...

:D

Go download that Yellowtools freebie, you'll find some nice acoustic guitars there (no honky tonk though), and an electric piano (preset called something like "Piano Pro"), that will just make you forget about time and space... (no honky tonk here either.. its for ballads).

It is a little surprising, but not really so strange. You know better than anyone that they still have some serious work to do on their sample engine... I think at this point their priority is to iron out the problems (not to mention the upcoming release of the QL pianos).

Anyways... we already know what we've got, don't we?

BTW, I brought home a Variax 300 guitar, with the understanding that I would return it if I don't like it. It is such a cool concept, but I am not thoroughly convinced by the sounds. They're in the ballpark, but most of the sounds seem a far cry away from the real thing... especially that Ricky 360-12. I think I would do better to get the VG strat... which is actually a real strat with bonus features. It is also 3 times the price, though. :-(

Of course, we know-- but some additional demos can be indicative of the smoke clearing on some of the issues. I know-- patience.

There's nothing like the real thing, but one must decide if "close enough" is "good enough". For a lot of people it is-- but when having the real thing makes sense, it's always the better choice.

Good thing you got it on spec! Wise approach-- and nice vendor!

I wonder if you could work out the same spec deal on the VG as you did on the Variax?

Now, if you were gazing at a rather more hairy, simian ex-protégé, would you swallow your pride and admit as much?

Well, actually... I had to buy it. But I bought it being very upfront with the fact that I just wanted to try it out and would probably be returning it. They would likely be willing to do it again with the VG strat... but might not be too impressed if I also returned that one and didn't end up buying a guitar... although I have bought a heck of a lot of gear from them in the past, including guitars.

Forking out $2250 for the VG strat is something I'm really not sure I can do right now... and yet I have some guitar tracks that I want to record which need those Strat, Telecaster, and Baritone guitar sounds. I can justify the purchase... but can I? Really!? :?

No Zed, you can't; a monkey instructed you to buy Line6, after all.

 I still can't get the sample content to download correctly -- impossible to get in, and once I did I got a corrupted file twice after 8 hrs of downloading -- their server is having a real hard time.

My heart tells me that I MUST have that guitar. I just went and tried it again, and it is beyond spectacular. The baritone setting is so ultra cool... it sounds great in Telecaster and Humbucker modes in particular. So many really delicious sounds you can get out of that baby. Sorry Monkey Man... but I think I will have to take back the Variax.

Hey! Have you guys seen these Beatle cartoons!?? Where have I been all this time?

That's beyond the Shire, baby!

And let's not forget the Rings of Ringo...

And also the one's around my eyes.
Goodnight.
