Great! That's a relief. I do NOT like using Altiverb AU in DP8. It misbehaves badly, not letting you start or stop a sequence without clicking back over to a DP window first. Also, the selector window with the list of all the IR's (and a picture of each) will not close with a keyboard command, plus it stays in front. You cannot access the controls on the main panel when the selector is open. I'm almost positive that i used to do that on the MAS version.
Also, the AU Altiverb apparently does not recognize a single one of my MAS Altiverb presets. I've got about a dozen presets that are very important to me. I can't even figure out a way to reconstruct them, except for possibly opening DP 7.24 and switch back and forth between them while I meticulously copy each setting. I don't even know if that's possible.
In NON-Altiverb news:
• I'm having a lot of trouble with DP8 recognizing some keyboard commands. For example, when I want to quick-group some tracks by holding down the W key, it only works occasionally. Seems that I have to reboot DP to get it to work.
• DP isn't recognizing COMMAND-A at the moment. (Select All) That's one of my most important commands, and it's not happening! Again, I think it's intermittent, but DP is running as I write this, and that is NOT working.
• Plugin windows that I leave open all the time used to open when I reboot the sequence. In other words, when I start DP and open the file, the plugins I left open when I last quit should open back up where I left them. Instead, an empty plugin holder opens, without even a plugin assigned to it.
There have been some other things, but I haven't kept the best notes. As I think of them, I'll add them. Please do not take my comments as negativity, I'm just pointing out places that need work in this brand-newly rewritten version of our old familiar DAW.
Almost forgot: if anyone else experiences these same problems, please corroborate here. Maybe I just need to reinstall DP8.

Yeah, that is the biggie!!! We actually use snapshot sets as Altiverb presets. (a separate AV7 instantiation for drums, perc, vocs , whatever with 20-25 saved snapshot positions). So like you, rebuilding them is out of the question.
On the other cmd A issue, did DP8 change hotkeys at all? I cant see them changing the traditional 'select all', but who knows. We are still installing DP8 here, so I will check later.

There's a large amount of screaming that most Antares products are still 32bit. I'm figuring this means that my AVOX plugins won't work.
The good news is that I hardly ever use them. As long as I run those few projects in 7.24, I should be ok.
I think they'd better update if they want more money from me...
Between DP and Izotope, I don't care if AutoTune ever works again but some of the other plugs are quite useful. I have built acapella projects around a couple of them.

Go tp DP 7, load your pre set, then save it as a Altiverb pre set in Altiverbs pre set menu, not DPs menu. The proprietary pre sets do seem to historically transfer between updates and audio engines.

I agree. That's what I had been planning to do if I couldn't get a really good reduction on K8U. You got a fantastic deal getting K8U at that price so many months ago.
kgdrum wrote:K8U already has the Abbey Road Drums,Alicia Key,Drums of West Africa(killer!)and much more....
K8U has them but I think K8 is missing some Abbey Road Drums and Alicia Keys. I guess I'll have to look carefully at the K8 and K8U prices and decide what's best.
Frankly I would rather not deal with any of this right now. I may have to just hang on for next summer's sale since right now getting DP8 and VoiceLive 2 are more important to me, with my limited funds.

K5 user database broken now? Can you please explain Frank? What version?
Look on page 118 Section 12.4.7 of the Kontakt 5.03 Application Reference Guide "Defining your own attribute sets". Step 2, No "Create User Set" appears in the right click menu. Works fine in Kontakt 4, where I've created quite a few user sets and tagged multis and instruments with them. Both are working and loading in 64 bit DP, btw

I only lost a couple of plugins that I regularly use and luckily i was about to drop a couple of those anyway.
I lost a bunch, but the only ones that mattered were..
Miroslav Philharmonik
NI's Pro-53 (but Auturia makes the exact same product in 64 bit)
Plus, I'd switch to a new 32 bit project and bounce if I need them that bad
Auto-Tune Evo (but I'm getting Melodyne this week finally so goodbye Antares)
I did lose some cool stuff like WatKat. That one actually hurts the most!
All of my most important plugin are already 64bit
Waves 9 (just upgrade today just in the nick of WUP time!)
Kontakt (thank God cause I got LASS Full, CS2, Soniccouture (everything), Albion I and 2, Piano In Blue, Imperfect Piano Steinway and about to get CineBrass (plus a bunch of other RAM hungry stuff - so you can see I was dying over here)
Amp Sims (a few of them)
Slate Digital VTM and VCC
Aurturia Moog Modular (the most important one), and Mini (the others are still 32 I think)
Wallender (got the whole shebang)
PianoTeq
Reaktor
..and much more
Thank you MOTU for 64 bit DP, a recent special on RAM and SSDs. I loaded up! Run smoothly DP8!

Being that DP8 is entirely Cocoa, the problem of losing keyboard focus to the plug-ins, like in DP7, should now be eliminated. I read on a plug-in developer's site that losing keyboard focus was caused by DP7 still using the Carbon UI while the plug-ins were in Cocoa.
Slate's AU plug-ins (VCC, VTM, FGX) and some others steal keyboard focus in DP7. I'm hoping that doesn't happen in DP8. It shouldn't. Easy thing to check, but I won't have DP8 until next week. Anyone want to check now?

Yeah, that's what I thought: no more loss of keyboard focus. I thought Cocoa took care of all that kind of thing. But I can't use Altiverb at all without losing keyboard focus. Worse… in the past, losing keyboard focus only meant that I needed to click at the top of the plugin's window, which still belongs to MOTU. I didn't have to go to another window. But in Altiverb that doesn't work!!! You HAVE to go to an entirely different window. It's maddening. I hit play, and I get an alert sound, full volume, slamming my speakers. (I can change that, but I still get the alert).

This is what I've found missing so far....
Altiverb6 (time to update to 7 I guess)
Korg Legacies
M-Tron Pro and VSS (I think they are actually the same product with different skins and sample libs)
Lounge Lizard EP (checked - update expected by end of year)
SampleTank2
Sylenth
Zebra
B4 II (that one really hurts)
I have successfully bridged B4 II the Korgs and Lounge Lizard via jBridgeM and will continue to experiment with the others.
Still digging...

Oh! So jBridgeM did work out, MLC was telling me it was crashing DP8. Those are exactly the ones I need to bridge (except for Lounge Lizard).
I'm happy that this looks like it's going to work (MLC said the developer was working on a fix for the crashing he was having), it's a lot cheaper than Plogue. With that money, I can buy the RAM I need to make 64bit worthwhile!

With such a large fanbase of B4 II users who have complained to NI about their discontinuing of this product (with myself included), I am really surprised that NI didn't reintroduce this product into their line-up as a Kontakt instrument or something. They specialize in such a wide range of products and must have pretty deep pockets and some very skilled programmers and designers at their disposal. Why on earth wouldn't they relaunch this admittedly fantastic product so that all of us who have loved it can continue employing it in our music for years to come?
Then again... why was it discontinued in the first place?
It baffles me.

Hi All:
I just received DP 8 and want to upgrade my Waves to V.9, but saw a post that seemed to suggest that Waves 9 would only run in 64 bit mode. I use UAD plugs and they are not 64-bit ready yet, so I need to run DP8 in 32-bit for a while.
Does Waves 9 run in 32 bit mode as well as 64?
Thanks,
Robert
