Did anybody check whether it's VST or VST3 that's supported? The latter is more powerful than AU in the expressivity department so might be preferable.
Overall, I'm wondering whether we'll be better off switching to VST as the "standard", or whether it will be case by case per plug-in as to which format works the best and/or provides the most access to features (including number of MIDI ports).

I didn't realize they had a VST3 for Mac. I thought VST3 was windows only, though I'll admit, I'm not very knowledgeable about these things.
From what I've seen, these days, VST-Mac is pretty scarce. No Mac program is tied to VST, so many companies skip the format altogether.

Wed., Sept. 26, c.c. is charged, but no notifications...
Thurs., Sept. 27 - - no notifications.....
Friday, Sept. 28 late afternoon, white box from UPS/MOTU setting on doorstep!
pretty impressive! as I said, kudos to MOTU. Now I'm grabbing the new manual (992 pgs.) and heading for the pub!

I thought I'd heard that they had.
EDIT: I just checked, I guess I heard wrong. So I stand corrected.

Izotope creates a VST3 folder and there are copies of many of my plugs there. I am told it affects Logic. Although I have L installed, can't say that I use it much.

I'm VERY happy they included VST support on the Mac Platform and will be upgrading forthwith. I definitely have a couple of plugins that are VST only and now I don't have to worry about it.

Congratulations! Frodo

I think you're going to love it!
I'm just scratching the surface and I see so many improvements,I'm amazed,
I already think this is such a great upgrade it's going to leave 7 in the dust, lol!
The 64bit aspect once other companies with plugs and VI's catch up is an enormous step forward, and yes I love being able to say other developers need to catch up with DP & MOTU now,lol

I'm also curious to hear what Mac you've upgraded to......
On a side note,I tried to pm you & as always.......
Regards,
KG

I thought I'd update my UPS experience.
DP8 arrived yesterday the package was beaten up and re-taped however the contents were fine.
This was the first time out of many that UPS did not stop the shipment at the boarder and demanded extra money.
The trade agreement between the US and Canada was just updated recently so it may have had something to do with it.
Thanx MOTU off I go to create havoc with DP8

I got Mach Five 3 a couple of weeks ago and UPS still did a five day border hold. But they didn't charge me the full amount of the HST.

A few years ago, my dog, a Rottweiler girl, fell in love with the driver of our UPS truck. On occasion, the lady has taken Penny on a tour of her truck, and she would always wave to her when she passed. Penny always barks when the UPS truck enters the neighborhood, and stays excited until the truck leaves the neighborhood, even though that lady doesn't work there anymore. (She hurt her back)
So, when UPS comes, I have them give the packages to Penny. DP8 came yesterday, weighing all of 4.8 lbs., or something like that. The driver gave it to Penny, who dutifully carried it into the house for me. She mangled the box, but the contents were unscathed.
That was your Shooshie Household Moment.

Oh, sure! She'd be flattered, of course! She's half Rott. She doesn't talk about her father, but she says she has forgiven her mother. Turns out even SHE thinks those German Shepherds are kinda sexy, and she falls for any boy dog who is bigger than she is, or (in the case of the Rhodesian Ridgeback next door) faster.
But her real obsessions are mailmen and the UPS truck!
