Re: Screencast of Composing with DP and Bidule
can someone explain the difference between running something like bidule, and using networking in audio/MIDI preferences to link up computers, using the VI's as standalone on a separate mac.

I see a lot of references to Rewire. Does one have to have (purchase?) Rewire to use this product? Or is Rewire a free download?wylie1 wrote:Very enlightening.

I see the link here and it appears to be free:

Re: Screencast of Composing with DP and Bidule
Here is another question about Bidule. When you purchase the $75 license, does that only allow you to install it on one computer?

Re: Screencast of Composing with DP and Bidule
rewire is a protocol, like vst, or something like that. anyway, I'm pretty sure it's free. I'm not sure what I'm talking about, but I am willing to bet money on it.MIDI Life Crisis wrote:I see a lot of references to Rewire. Does one have to have (purchase?) Rewire to use this product? It's free but it's usually packaged with a commercial product. I've never seen a download specifically for it. Leave it to MLC to find one. Is that the most recent version? I thought I read where it was up to v2. I don't use it so I don't keep track.MIDI Life Crisis wrote:I see a lot of references to Rewire. Does one have to have (purchase?) Rewire to use this product? Form their online shop:rikp wrote:Here is another question about Bidule. When you purchase the $75 license, does that only allow you to install it on one computer?
End users can buy a license key that will unlock Bidule for ANY NUMBER of their personal computers, laptops and workstations, Mac or PC. One key, no challenge/response web accesses or telephone calls for any of your stations. However, since all your stations are permanently unlocked, it is much harder for us to track licenses (and leaked licenses), so we decided to not allow their transfer. Please read Bidule's End User Software License Agreement for more details.
I really hope more companies move towards this line of thinking instead of the "per machine" license lunacy.

Re: Screencast of Composing with DP and Bidule
In regards to the stems...I can see a great advantage in how Mike has set things up, so he can record all the stems in one pass. I'm going to end up Just Like Mike.
I'm interested in people's views whether the orchestral stuff should be separated into long and short, as Mike has done, or as I have often been recommended to do, high and low stems. When I've had a real (!) mixing engineer mix my stuff he generally separates his buses into high and low orchestral instruments so as to put a smaller reverb on the low stuff, to avoid muddiness. What are people's thoughts?

Hey Mike, what's the gray controller right above the keyboard?
Sorry if this has been answered before...

I'm assuming auto quantize is Off and you've started out with a click.
I've been pointing allot of people to your YT page we could be looking at the next Youtube celebrity.

Yes, auto quantize is off. And I have the click going into my headphone mix. So that definitely makes it look more impressive.wylie1 wrote:I'm assuming auto quantize is Off and you've started out with a click.

Thanks for forwarding to others!
