So is anyone able to use the NI plugins VIs like Intakt, Kompakt on a PPC? They work fine as standalones, but not in DP 6.02.

Gee... I must have missed a Group Buy or some great deal that you were all a part of, since many here seem to have these Stillwell plugins. I had never even heard of them before I started reading this thread.

I haven't installed 6.02 yet, but I am certainly feeling encouraged by some of the positive reports herein! :-)

So far, I've been able to use both FM8 and B4 II on my machine with 6.02 (some people reported having problems with NI plugs on 6.01, also), but I have a MacBook, not a PPC. A lot of these issues may still be related to Leopard, too -- I've been using Tiger, and I don't run a MOTU interface. Admittedly, I haven't gone through all my VIs and plugins yet to see what, if anything, isn't working with 6.02, but so far, all appears to be well (knock on wood) ...

I've never heard of these Stillwell plugs, either, but between my PSP plugs, T-RackS and WaveArts (and the fact that these Stillwell plugs seem to be the source of endless mayhem), I probably have my bases well covered ...

The upgrade is indeed a bit snappier, perhaps even zazzier, though it may fall short of being sassier.

OK here is my weirdness:

On my PPC Mac all my plugs ACTUALLY show, including the long missing NI plugs (also love the folder grouping by the way). I'm sooo happy!

Now on my Intel Machine, some NI plugs are still a no show (Elektrik Piano 1.5), which FYI does appear in Logic on the Intel machine. What is up with that?

I really want to make the total switch over to my intel machine, but I still can't. Anyone else having plug in no show issues on an intel machine?

Peace

How did you get the NI plugins to show up? Did you reinstall them, or did they just magically appear in their appropriate formats?

Which NI plugs on your Intel machine DO show (i.e., work properly) in DP 6.02?

So far:

A full day of audio editing/ mixing, many instantiations of Waves, PSP, Wave Arts and Motu MAS plugs, buffer pre-fills turned back on, pre-rendering turned back on, and:

Positive:
1. Not a single crash or spinning wheel.
2. Definitely snappier.
3. Deleting an unlocked marker while playing no longer causes a crash.
4. Works fine with Amplidood's mod.

Negs:
1. No obvious update to the operation of the MW Leveler re: "warm up" time.
2. Gosh, I haven't found any yet, I'll need to check against my long laundry list of ignored TechLinks and see if they've been listening (number 3, above, was one I'd reported.)

So far, very encouraging.

Which version?

There is also a new version of MAS. This installer will not run on my MacMini, it also refuses to quit, making a forced
quit & shutdown neccesary. Anyone else seen this? I downloaded it twice but both do the same.

anyone know about the changes in MW Leveler - seems it went from 1.0 (DP6.01) to 1.3 (DP6.02) - so, there might be quite some changes in there ...

I did not see anything in the waht's new pdf ...

best

EDIT: just noticed that we now seem to have AU surround support for all support surround configs ... (well, with 10.2 I am not sure - at least Apple AUs show up there)

That's what I understood you to mean. Just checked and I can group faders by shift clicking. The first one you shift click starts the group, IOW, if a track is selected and you shift click another track, the previously selected track is not included in the group until you shift click on that track. This could create some confusion and may lead to the belief that it is broken. It' snot. :)
What I'm Referring to is the issue with fading grouped tracks in the SE window. Only tracks that are visible on screen will fade. If you had a drum group of 10 tracks but were zoomed in looking at only 3 of them the other 7 tracks will usually not fade. The handles of the 7 hidden tracks will also disappear. The only way to get the handles back is to edge edit the group.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I'm very pleased with 6.02, having just mixed a song I tracked in 5.13 Monday, after adding Ethno and Ivory tracks tonite. Everything I tried simply worked. Although this song was a simple one, I encountered no delays or crashes, and the VI stuck notes I had been experiencing of late in 5.13 seem to be gone. I tried Kontakt 2 briefly as well, and it worked great. I'm running 10.4.11 on my PPC Quad.

I also updated Cuemix to the latest Cuemix FX, which doesn't add any FX functionality to my 828mkII but does offer a cleaner interface with stereo input grouping and balance/width control, which are really nice. Seems like the window size is fixed, though, so scrolling from end to end to reach all Cuemix input faders is now necessary. I can deal.

I'll say it again: I am very pleased. Looks like we holdouts might be able to start meandering on up to DP6 at last. Thank you MOTU. My only request: stick with the debugging for a while longer before you delve into "new and exciting" features. We've all had enough excitement, i.e. spinning balls and crashes, for a while, and are simply looking for stability. We will almost certainly unearth at least a few performance issues and bugs in the next few weeks (maybe hours, Mr. Stilwell). Please listen and respond as promptly as possible, 'cause we love this DAW, and unrequited love is a painful thing.

I'm just about to pull the trigger on 6.02.

On my last install, I performed the 5.13 'MAS audiosupportbundle' tap dance/swap and have had a pretty smooth ride with DP6.01. Is this procedure still necessary or recommended??

Thanks!

All of my Kontakt plugs 2 and 3. I have not tried them yet to see if they are fully functional. But what is up with Elektrik Piano 1.5 (which I use a ton)?

Peace

No, I didn't bother doing this for 6.02... All seems well so far!
