Yeah, I've seen/read some of the specs floating around, although nothing official from Line6. From what I can see, it looks like their "Tone Port", in a hardware unit. I already have the XT Pro, loaded with the "add on packs", and a Bass PodXT. So I can't see buying everything I already have, rolled into one unit. But again....I'm just speculating, as to what these new units are.

I'd be more interested to see Line6 release a "newer generation" line of modellers. They seem to just keep releasing new products, using their old technology, ( XT's...2.0 ).

This new Line6/Bogner amp, looks to me like nothing more than one of those God aweful "Spider" series amps, with tubes. I would have thought they would have at least developed some new technology for this thing. Then again, I haven't actually heard the amp, so "shuttin' up", is probably in order...!!! LOL :)

Well that "with tubes" thing is important, because from what I understand, it's not just a tube main power stage, but a full on tube pre-amp and overdrive with 3 or 4 12AX7s. I'm too lazy to look it up but they published the specs. So basically it's a tube amp capable of tube amp sounds without ANY "modeling." I don't even know what the heck the modeling is supposed to be about, unless it's for effects or maybe enhancing the ability of the amp to mimic other types of amps. Perhaps they're going to recommend their own cabinet with very non-colored speakers (or dialed in as a baseline reference) and you'll be able to have settings that would emulate whether it's loaded with greenbacks, of V30s, or whatever... dunno.

Yeah, I'd have to go back and look at it again, but I thought it had a dozen "amp models" to choose from.

Yipes!! Well, I guess this is the one instance where Behringer actually made something first without waiting for Mackie to do it and copying it.

Ha! I've the PODxt and Bass PODxt, but no add-ons.
I did wonder after reading the X3Live blurb and learning that it has 28 bass amps or something, whether it might be worth ditching both PODs in exchange for the Live unit.
For one thing, it has XLR outs, and would power and play nice with my Variax, as well as make a fine addition to my (non-existent still!) amp collection. I figure it'd be perfect for doodling in the lounge room through the stereo, something I've never been able to do (even with an amp) my whole life, but think about every day!

Reamping is in my future, it would seem, so a future "Pro" version of the X3 might do it - I assume there's a direct out as well as a possible reamp in, KOL?

Me too, but I suspect the convolution/transfer-style processing they're using can't be improved as such, and that the models (IRs?) themselves are more or less completely determining what we hear.

Still trying to learn that skill over here.
