That would probably be a big mistake. There is most likely a solution to your problem, but it might involve some hardware update of some kind. I am having some DP issues of my own, but crackle and noise is no longer one of them. So there is hope. Obviously there is not supposed to noise and most users are not experiencing this.

You should probably add a signature to your profile using the information about your setup (same as you provided a couple posts back) so you can be better assisted.

Thanks - I know, I hate to make the switch too, especially considering the cost of investing in a Pro Tools HD system. I've been with DP for nearly 10 years. This crackle has been plaguing me for the past 3 years off and on, despite hours and hours of research and troubleshooting, plus hardware and software upgrades. And I know from this thread and others before it that I am not alone.

I did add a signature in case anyone else has any other ideas.

Thanks again!

I don't recall all that has been covered in this thread, but have you tried using an external clock source.

Also, the 3GB of RAM seems very small to me. I don't know if that is enough for a hungry OSX.

As for ProTools, I suppose it depends on how you work and what you are doing. It is a completely different animal, and I made the mistake of using it for 3 years before I came to Digital Performer. I really loathed it. I tried to get used to ProTools, and warm up to it, but it never happened. I finally ditched Digidesign when they wanted to force me to upgrade my hardware in order to continue using the software.
