Thanks for posting the pic. I know what Teles, Strats, and Les Pauls look like so it's interesting to see someone's custom instrument.

I think that it has about the right amount of adornments. I like understated guitars better. I would have put fretboard inlays on it though, but that's because I suck.

Heh. There are position markers on the edge of the fretboard.

I like understated, too. Didn't even want a pick-guard, really, but got the clear classical one because someone else might play it. (And in spite of this there's a scratch on the front to the upper left in the pic.

Well, of course, my dear hobbit! If one can have *both*, one should! (Hence my Trini & and Trini Deluxe in addition to the Steiny.) Different sounds for different er, mounds. One needs a solid, a semi, and a hollow-bodied guitar!

Wow! How much fun was THAT!!

It seemed so simple and straightforward that you can forget it was in 7/4. It was so wonderfully organic-- the way he was able to solo so effortlessly. And yet, the complexities are not at all hidden. I really enjoyed watching that-- had never seen it before.

Besides that, I'm not sure yet if I want to go practice my face off or to put the guitar down altogether and to just keep with the piano.

Amazing stuff, that Guthrie.

Yamaha Grand. Smooth action, balanced tone.

2. Of the guitars you do not own, which one(s) do you covet and why?

Bosendorfer 9' Imperial Concert Grand. Have played several and they basically play what I think!

3. What are your preferred pre's, heads, cabinets and cables-- and style of music?

Pre: Honey???
Head: Prefer not to say.
Cabinet: Liquor
Cable: Umbilical.
Styles: Baroque -> mid-Romantic; Mozart, Bach & Beethoven.

4. Strings!! Gauge? Brand? Frequency you change them?

Yamaha originals. From 13 to 6 gauge (wound bass). About every 50 years.

5. Name your top five favorite guitarists or bassists of all time.

Daniel Barenboim, Arthur Rubinstein, V. Horowitz, Oscar Peterson and (at the risk of sounding like an egomaniac) myself.

A friend of mine who has 3 grands has one it is quite the piano. The extra low keys realy rumble the room.

My little side chick is a tin whistle. She fits in my shirt pocket and can go anywhere, though she sets off metal detectors like crazy. I've been in a lot of jam sessions where it would get around to my turn, and I'd pull out my tin whistle and blow people's minds. Heck, I'm not even that good! It's just such a novelty. But for a wind player, it's so nice to have something that doesn't require a huge case.

Dude, that's 8, you're only allowed 5 (unless you think 8 pianists = 5 guitarists.) BTW, anyone mention Django Reinhart?

I played a 9' 6" new Petroff last month and loved it! At 75k it was a steal!

But I disagree about the piano not traveling

I do a lot of performances where I use a Kurxweil PC2. In a good theater with a great sound system, even a few pianists don't realize it's an electric until they see it. Good ears can always tell the difference, and trained fingers... well, you know.

As far as "my naughty obsession" you'll have to search my recent posts in another section to find that!
