I'll PM you the phone number of my last girlfriend... she had all that and more!
Is she in Las Vegas by any chance, and does she make housecalls? I've got audition jitters, and I need her right now!

As a matter of fact, she lived there for many years. But you should have noproblem finding one of her equally talented "sisters" in the area...

You'll find her listed under "Novelty Strip-o-Gram". Her sisters are recorded there too.
Sorry, MLC, I should've let
you spill the beans; they're family after all.
You could tell from your previous, pre-nipple-era avatar.
You know, the dark furry one that rhymes with Mortilla?
Funny,
I'm tryin' ta make a monkey out of
you?

Sorry dude, but wrong on both counts. For one, I doubt you cold ever afford her in ANY sense of the word. On the second, like other monkeys, you are just hurling ••••. All that does is make the monkey even MORE of a monkey.
As an aside, we had a 3 piece band back when I was a drummer (around 1969) that would play lots of Hendrix and Cream and early Zeplin, etc. The lead guitarist was baby sitting a monkey in a cage in his basement where we would practice. I guess the Marshall stacks, Custom bass amp and Ludwigs & Zilgians were too much for him. He would throw his crap at us all rehearsal (usually during an Iron Butterfly tune!) At 15, it didn't bother me too much as I far away from him.
Now at 52, I have another monkey throwing crap at me, and I am also far from him. Hence, it STILL doesn't bother me. But at least I cannot smell it!
All kidding aside (you WERE kidding????) I can't remember what the •••• we were talking about!

Great thread, since I love DP almost as much as I love curtains and rugs.
They don't have to match, just compliment each other.
Boobs are nice too.

I am.
I've wasted 4 months with this app. Every other audio application I have works like a dream on my machine save one -- DP. The way it responds, I may as well be running a G3 w/ 128 MB of RAM. I've tried every buffer setting, work priority, etc as well as multiple reinstalls and still nothing. It chokes under even a single VI and two audio tracks. The app is worthless.
I've been able to throw dozens of VIs and plug-ins at Ableton Live without it breaking a sweat. DP can barely handle 2 plug-ins and one VI.
I'm sick of wasting time and accomplishing nothing. Waste of money.
DP has some great features, it's just too bad it doesn't WORK.

Sorry you have been unable to get this working. Clearly, that is NOT the usual experience by the forum members here (and be several pros I know using DP).
DP can and DOES work, and it is a mystery (reading thru your posts) whaty nothing you have tried has worked. Out of curiosity, have you called MOTU? Tech support can run thru a few seemingly simple things that can troubleshoot your apparently severe problems.
They really should get a call and you should make it very clear to them that the program has NEVER really worked on your system. While the license states the software is "as is"some vendors will go a long way to remedy a situation as severe as your obviously is.
The worst part is that DP (for most of us) really is a fantastic, useful and quite functional program. The hype in the PR is actually true and a call to the MFG might be a wise "last ditch" effort. It might even prove fruitful.

I suppose it's worth mentioning that in the light of the title of this thread that we should all be careful with terms like "anyone" or "everyone". In the form of a question, the answer will almost always present some qualified exceptions, which I don't take at all lightly even when the majority of posters here are in favor of DP. PT is a great app and it does some things that DP doesn't and it does other things DP does, but does them differently. But that's the case with all apps.
MLC, it may be moot at this stage for Mr. Quimper to expound much further, but he made the best decision in his best interest and I can respect that. I do wonder what computer he was running and just what it was that caused the problem. It is unusual in the light of positive reports about 5.11, but I can't even say that his report doesn't ring a bell.
Hmm. Only 2 plugins and 1 VI? Now, that *is* very strange.
But to get back to the subject of this thread a little, one reason "many" people aren't leaving DP for PT at least could be rooted in part in such trends as some developers porting plugins to AU which were previously only available as TDM, such as the URS Everything EQ Bundle. There are other TDM fx I'd love to see run native in OSX but only time will tell just how many more TDM-only plugins might be ported if coding for the Intel chip makes that any easier for developers.
Just a thought.
