the synths are as follows (from memory) i can't remember the names of all of them
nanosampler
a very basic sampler for playback of a single sample on one channel
drum machine
12 part drum sampler
fm synth
basic subtractive synth
less basic subtractive synth
bass synth
i think it's wise for motu to include some VIs in the package to be competitive, but i don't see machV and mx4 being included. they are very robust and would jack up the price of dp.
i was a little disappointed to not see an overhaul of the bundled fx plugs, including a convolution reverb. i hope this is coming.

If they don't fix the issues in the current version, like those mentioned, and the Drum Editor problem, then I couldn't care less.
The attempt by some software companies to distract loyal users from show stopping issues by throwing a new version number and a couple of new features in is getting old.

<yawn> Well, at least it's something for those with less extensive gear & software. But it is hardly a deal breaker in my book. Back to work...zzz

I couldn't agree more.
2.7 and 4.12 are the only versions I could use without deal-breaking issues. Hire some decent programmers already!

No convolution reverb? Wow, that's interesting.
As for the new synths, could this be some of the reason MachFive 2.0 has been slow to go-to-market (e.g. they've been spending their time developing the above for DP5)? It'll be interesting to hear the reviews on these.

I can't tell. Are you people being funny?
If not, you only need to look in the mirror to find where your technical issues are. If you can't trouble shoot your own setups stay out of the DAW kitchen. Leave MOTU out of it. No amount of programming can help you. DP 4.5 and 4.6 are the most stable apps I've ever had on system - slow maybe, but not unstable. No crashes in several busy weeks.

I agree. More stable than the nativity!
BTW, Dix, your upside thingy is very creative and tricky, but the # of posts seems to be stuck at 290

Let's say you have a bunch ( ok, a huge load) of MIDI tracks that have you have rendered to audio via Bounce to Disk (Mach 5) or by recording the audio outs of your hardware sound modules.
All of the MIDI tracks can now be nested in a "Folder Track" to unclutter the T.O. Now you can concentrate on the big picture in the T.O. without visual overload.
Sometimes, if I've ended up with unused tracks, I can nest them in a Folder Track so that they can be archived, or put them to use on Tuesday.
Certainly, the show/hide function serves a similar purpose in the Sequencer or Mixer windows.

Yes!!!
Vertical zoom in the T.O. would be a highly functional enhancement!!!
Vertical zoom in the T.O. is different than the awesome view in the sequencer window.
It's nice to be able to view and manipulate blocks of bars when arranging.

Get a Kensington USB Dome. It's got 7 ports, and works like a charm. I think I paid $15 for mine. It's heavy enough that it doesn't flop around the desktop. It has a long cable, so you can put it just about anywhere, and the radial design keeps its size small while giving you more access. I have my dongles plugged into it all the time.

i think that's the point of the bundled VIs, to bring in new users. every other major sequencer has its own sound makers, and motu kind of has no choice but to follow suit.
i'm with you in that none of these things are things i need, but they may prove to be useful. if you take a look at the logic VIs, i'd say only a small fraction of them are very useful if you've already got things like komplete 3 or other synths. but they are attractive to people getting in at the ground floor.
i welcome any move motu can make to stay competitive.

Hi All
In a couple of words I can't wait. The VI's and nano sampler would make it almost the perfect program for me. I'm sick of using the soft samplers in reason.

Hang on a sec!....I thought we all agreed that we would like an optimized version of MAS before they added new features. Atleast thats what overall jist in 'Petition to optimize MAS' thread was.
I guess if they're gonna opimize, fix a few bugs and then throw in a couple of features, then I'm not really complaining. A convolution reverb woupld be nice - particularly one where I can load in my own impulses.
But I would like to see it compete with Logic on the efficiency front

There's so many ground level issues that need to be upgraded it's almost saddening to hear they're wasting their resources on VIs and track folders. Can we say, "Optimize?" Can we say, "Native support of AIFF and WAV audio files?" Can we say, "Universal Binary?" Can we say, "Better support and more frequent bug fixes?"
DP just needs an overhaul. Is it stable? Most of the time. Almost all the the "great" features added in the past have issues and need some reworking. Most of the time if you push any one feature too far DP crashes (like edge editing or the beat detection engine.) DP's just an aging app that needs a fresh start. I really thought that would happen with this release, but apparently not... yawn.
