James Steele wrote:I noticed SampleTank's sync of course changes the PITCH of the loop. That's not too bad if it's the song tempo is only slightly different from the loop's tempo, but otherwise that's a real drag. Other thing of course is to lay out individual MIDI notes on the timeline... I don't know if it's just a chromatic ascension like Styles RMX uses, etc., but syncing loop without altering pitch would be nice.
You can do it.

Just make sure that your loop is selected, and then press the SYNC "PART" button (which I assume you have already figured out). Then you also have to select the SYNTH button near the middle of the GUI, and then select STRETCH as the mode (on the far left of the GUI for Synth settings). Then you can use the PITCH and TEMPO knobs, if needed.

Evidently that PDF is not "copy" friendly. But I included the text in case you want an alternate explanation with some different details.

Not to revive a dead horse and then proceed to beat it, but I wonder what ever happened to StudioPhonik that some of us bought in an IKMulti group buy a long time ago?

Thanks for the info zed... I'll try it. I'm beginning to feel I should have passed on the Loops. Looping the way Sample Tank wants me to do it just doesn't really work with me. I wish there was a way I could use these in another tool. I would have spent the extra money to have these in RMX. :(

Sorry you're not to keen on the SampleTank loops James. I think in this format, you should think of each of those loop packs more as being hundred of virtual drum kits, because really the strong point is the ability to play the slices... and I personally prefer to do that in ST, just because I always have an instance of SampleTank running, and it is easier to load it up than it is in RMX.

SampleTank 3, however, is rumoured to incorporate "drag and drop" loops like RMX for these products. But that may be several months away.

I agree that getting the REX versions of these loops is handy. They are all on offer as freebies to choose if your order this GB from eSoundz. But I think Squids may also be thinking of creating an additional GB so that you could actually choose those items as your selections... so you might be able to get them again soon. They are the same packs that were on sale in last months no-brainer (4 for $20). I should have posted a thread on that one. That was a stinking good deal, but I already have all those packs.

So far for me:

Multisamples:
Cinematik Collection
OmniSynth 2
SampleOB Xpander

Loops:
World Grooves

Have to decide on my last one... (maybe two soon)... but I'll be skipping the loops as I'm not a fan of SampleTank's implementation of loops. I'd rather do that in StylusRMX or other VI.

Ah James... if that is the only loop pack that you got, I think you picked a good one, and hopefully you are not too disappointed. Again, think of each of those loops as a virtual percussion instrument. There are times when you find that it is a real easy way to get a good percussion track of some kind. If you also get the same title for RMX, then even better.

Let me give you an example of something you can do in SampleTank that you can't do in Stylus RMX... you can adjust and manipulate the pitch, stretch and parameters of individual slices without affecting the others! And then you can save the preset and reload it quickly whenever you need it. You could use this to tune drums and rings, to work better with your song, you can degrade certain slices, etc.

For me, I have selected so far:

Instruments
Acoustic Guitar Collection 2
Bass Collection 2
Cinematik Collection
Electric Guitar Collection 2

Slice Loops
World Grooves
Sixties Motown
Vintage Soul
Blues Grooves
Vintage Rock
Nashville Pop

Probable next picks
Jazz Grooves
Vocal Grooves

Yeah... you can join TWICE too they say. Kinda hard to pass up 10 bucks each for an expansion pack.

That said, I noticed that the fan on the back of my Sample Tank is noisy and I may have to get it replaced! I'm afraid it will eventually stick and my Sample Tank will overheat! (Click the "i" at the upper left of the Sample Tank interface!)

I just love it when the developers find time to do something like that.
