Madeline Kahn was at NAMM? Dang, Sorry I missed that. That's one way to get the masses happy with their new releases. Of course, it was just her ghost, poor darling, but hey, I'll take ectoplasmic releases at this point. DP6.2: Completely transparent!

As for that "in a few weeks" figure, that's got to be the oldest NAMM trick in the MOTU world. I'll mark on my calendar: "a few weeks from October" and cross my fingers. Just Joking, MOTU. We KNOW you can get it mailed in 3 weeks. (that IS the definition of "a few" isn't it?) C'mon guys, we're behind you and Madeline. Make our day!

Wasn't that the essence of "Ghosts Can't Do It" ?

If a "significant update" was coming in several weeks, you'd think they'd be previewing it at NAMM.

We may have a chain yanker/chain yankee situation here.

I remember one "significant update" to DP previewed last year. We all know what happened then. MOTU is being cautious. No previews - no responsibility. The pessimistic idea is that MOTU does not have to roll out any updates.

Did anyone who saw the MOTU demo at NAMM notice which DP version they used?

That's confusing me. If this "dude" is under NDA then he either lied or was fired the next day. If he was authorized to give out such information then it is a really strange way to inform about twice as SIG-NI-FI-KANT DP update through some anonymous "dudes" at a public show. It is even more weird than the usual MOTU's tight-lippness.

It sounds like "damned if you do, damned if you don't." If MOTU says nothing to you and releases an update without fanfare, you complain that they didn't announce anything beforehand. When they give a sliver of information about what might be coming in the near future, you complain that the MOTU guy is violating his NDA.

5.13 - cause it's stable??? Just guessing.

P.S. I just visited the Reaper.fm forum today to see that 3.0 alpha was released. 2.4 was released just before christmas, and 2.99 betas have gone through several versions throughout December. Okay, it's a maturing app. but if you like to watch progress being made in a transparent fashion, that's a good example of a company working WITH it's intended target market and user base. I am still in awe of that company.

I'd expect this to be the 6.1 update, unless that's been rolled into 6.5 due to unforeseen delays (bug squashing?) last year. Either way, I'll bet my last banana that it's not a "paid upgrade"; in light of the somewhat cool reception '6 received, this would make sense.

As to the suggestion that we won't see it until June - in MachFive's case, MOTU spoke in terms of quarters. This fella's talking weeks. IMHO, this would explain the somewhat extended silence/lack of apparent activity on MOTU's part these last 6 months, especially if BPM and Volta were developed offshore.

Words cannot express how desperately I anticipate this update.

No, it sounds like "clean up your own mess without being asked". I haven't seen anyone's complaints about releasing an update without announcement, only about quality of those updates. If MOTU respects its customers it should release updates quickly and without fanfare. In any case if MOTU is eager to inform the world about an update the best way is a press-release, not a "dude" with NDA or without.

Lest people think I am rabble-rousing or "piling on," I will keep this short and to the point.

DP6 is *long* overdue for an update. IMO it is disrespectful and irresponsible for MOTU to to keep customers hanging on for so long in complete silence.

Bill you live in Mass. so will you go down to MOTU to give them what for and get them off their butts. They need to fix things and it has been way too long.

agree... and even more if you think about DP's state, and that BPM is programmed by USB in Paris (as most of Motu's latest softwares, DP apart)
I'm very worried.

I doubt I'd get past the receptionist (and, having a bit of a temper, I probably leave in the back seat of a Cambridge's Finest vehicle).

All kidding aside, if there's ever anything I can do in person sanctioned by James and the senior members of MotuNation, I would be pleased to do so.
