Quite a lot of input considering...

Yeah, and yet I (and I'm sure others) had to hold myself back from waxing my lyrics on this one.
IMHO, the Unicorn is central to our identity, possibly because... we are Unicorns.

Still in thought-experiment-induced shock here; I've seen the alternatives, and they're not pretty.

Does anyone know if the left rack ear of the 828 MKIII still has a picture of the unicorn?

On a related matter, I think we need to elect a president of unicornation just like the red sox elected a president of red sox nation. It was obvious from day one that Remy was going to win that office, and it should be obvious James is going to win this office, but we should still have an election for the PR. I think Les might be a good candidate too.

James, UnicorNation is something you can be proud of. All of us can, in fact. I argue that until MOTU changes it's corporate name, it would be a CRYING SHAME to change the name of this site.
Good point theres UN Web history out will not change if we do so even if James decides to make the change he should keep the UN domain and have it point to the new one.
Thanx again James for all the work you put in to this.

PooTu.com ?

MoTunes.com (taken!)

LessTU.com ?

TuTu.com (already taken, and tacky as can be - but maybe I've played one too many ballet classes...)

Okay, I think you're giving us all a little too much credit here. :)

[Just kidding. Yes, it is a relief to step into a place where "hiiiiiiiiyeeeeeeeee" isn't considered a deep thought or a form of bonding.]

Now about Deep People...[smirk]

I agree, why change the name? It is Jame's perrogative. But I feel a deep attachment to "Unicornation"

How' bout: "Deep Six"?

(with the new version and all the bugs that may come with it?)

A new logo and color for the site will make this whole enterprise feel "new" again. If after that there's still a chronic itch to change the name, then that may be the time to change it.

Maybe the new design can feature an agricultural theme with the emphasis being put on the uniCORNation.

Jus' a thought is all. [spit]

P.S. I design logos (and websites) on a professional basis and would be willing to take a crack at a few designs, or offer some advice.

[Not trying to pull my own wire here. Just saying is all].

Just a guess James, but you REALLY want to change the name, don't you?

It does seem that way.

FWIW, the Unicorn compoonent would serve well as an excuse to point to MOTU's extensive history of producing hardware and software, not least because it's unique and therefore stands out.

I know, I should give up 'cause it's up to James, but I don't wanna let go of this name that's steeped in heritage and tradition.
If this does happen, I'll likely be in denial for quite a while.
"MOPOOVator? Who's that? I'm a loud and proud Unicorn, thank you very much", I just heard myself say in a thought experiment.
If only I could record the debate that's going on in said experiment and play it to you guys, you'd see it the Unicorn way.

Hmm... it really is a ripper; you should see these folks go at it.
Might leave this one running and check on it tomorrow... :?

My sentiments exactly!

What's more, none of the other names suggested thus far appeal to me at all. No flair. No spice. No touch of the je ne sais quoi...

... if you know what I mean (not sure if I do).

Honestly, I find "MOTUNATION" or "MOTU-USERS.COM" extremely dull... and it doesn't fit the character of the kind of people that are drawn to this site... or to DP in general.

Not at all. We are, in a way, misfits. Mythical creatures. People don't believe in us. But we know we exist! So, the symbol of the Unicorn seems fitting.

Perhaps it's because... as Monkey Man suggests...

We ARE Unicorns!

I don't necessarily *WANT* to change it other than the fact that it is very dated and with MOTU purging the unicorn from most things something else might be better. Perhaps a DP-themed name could be good. When DP6 comes out, I'd like to hopefully get MOTU's permission to make a skin somewhat based on the new look.

BTW, I've only listed choices where I have already secured the domain. And I think they all point here and have done so for a while. THIRDPARTYFORUM.COM is available as well. (inside joke!)

Yes we are and it looks like Monkey's are Unicorns to.
