Hey Mr. Mix...

I'm a happy BFD2 user who has to give you your dues for including a hard drive instead of DVD's (and one with all the right ports.)

Here's a few questions:

Can the Mix library be backed up onto another Hard Drive for safe keeping, or does your HD also act as a form of copy protection?

(I just had problems with my Ivory Piano Library and fortunately I was able to copy it over from another drive.)

Speaking of copy protection, which do you use, challenge and response, iLok, or.... ?

Does it work with the full versions of Kontakt 2 & 3, and is it OSX 10.5.1 compatible?

It's a standard drive - no custom filesystem, no protection. The drives are formatted FAT32 for maximum PC/Mac compatibility, and you can copy/move the data over to any drive you want and then set the new library path in the KontaktPlayer GUI.

Being a KontaktPlayer2 library, it uses NI's Service Center (=Challenge/Response).

It works with the full version of Kontakt (both 2 and 3). However, the patches do not allow to enter Kontakt's edit pages and thus you won't gain anything by using them in the full version except for the option to use MIXOSAURUS together with other Kontakt patches in one multi. That's possible.

Yes, MIXOSAURUS is Leopard-compatible. The installer as well as the KP2 software/plugins run on PPC/Intel/Tiger/Leopard.

I'm happy to announce the release of the MIXOSAURUS DAW Drums Kit A v1.1 Update, available as of now.

The update is FREE for all MIXOSAURUS users and can be downloaded from MIXOSAURUS.com.
v1.1 brings a few new features to Kit A, significantly expanding its range of possible applications:

- new "eco" instruments with lower RAM requirements and faster loading times (down to 1/7 of the full patches)
- built-in ability to understand MIDI drum tracks of almost any format you can think of
- optimized performance tuning options now allow to run Kit A at small audio buffer settings (e.g. 64 samples on a MacBookPro)
- e-drum playability (with live monitoring of Kit A!)

Here's a little example of some wild TD-12 drumming to illustrate how well it performs with an e-drum.
The MP3 contains two passes of the same performance - the first is the "full mix" version with all tracks, Alternating Samples and some plugin processing active, while the second pass is the Kit A monitor sound that the drummer heard in his headphones while playing ("ecoT" patch, no effects added).

NOTE: NOT A SINGLE MIDI EDIT has been made to this track - it is exactly as it left the TD-12's MIDI output. This is the pure Kit A's TD-12 Translation.

Has anyone gotten any serious time with this VI for feedback purposes?

Did you ever get BFD2? Just curious. It's actually much more user friendly in terms of getting processed ready to go drum sounds. Once you tweak your kit you can save all the settings to use in other songs. Using BFD 1 took a lot of work for me to get the same sound in each song since i was outputting individual drums out to their own aux sends for processing. Now it's a snap. Also, I can make an aux track in the bfd2 mixer and send it out to dp to a dp aux track with a plate verb. Real easy.

Howz BFD2 with Leopard? BFD1 has yet to be rendered functional in Leo, at least per the FXpansion website. Leo compatibility combined with the enhanced user friendliness has me thinking...

New Demo Video online

MIXOSAURUS.com has been updated with a new video to demonstrate the versatility of Kit A.
Potential buyers have told us about their worries whether a single drumkit can serve many different musical styles, so we produced this 4-pieces-in-one demo which uses nothing but the "Standard Kit" preset: neither the Kick Drum beater, the Snare muffling nor the Overhead Setups change, and there isn't even an extra reverb on the drums - all things drums in there are Kit A, "Standard Kit" preset. Check out the video to see for yourself that it's all playing in realtime with the parameters tweaked by automation.
