Sweet.
I vote for this as well

Ever met a sound designer that uses Logic? I haven't.
"sound designer" !? so what is a sound designer? a guy who creates sounds

Eric Pershing ! he uses Logic, but probably not to create the sounds,. but who knows?

doubt the DP plugs will sway any sound designers, or Cubase, Nuendo, PT, Samp for that matter, so if the don't use Logic,. what mystery app does a sound designer use.

not trying to be a wise guy, I just don't get it.

Not sure how I'd "define" a sound designer, but I can give you an
example of work that I did that I considered "sound design."
An entire short film shot without any sound had to have everything
created from scratch..everything from someone walking in an apt to
the ambience in an apt/restaurant, to multiple layers of heavily
processed voices representing someone's fractured psyche.
I'd likely consider something like that sound design.
Mind you using "synthetic deconstructed/reconstructed" sounds
generated from soft synths (like those bundled with sequencers) in combination with ambient sounds
could be used in "sound design"
as well.

Or not...

Mystery solved Peter?

PS..I wouldn't use Logic for that purpose either..

Gary Rydstroms also a very famous sound designer.

so what does a sound designer use? any DAW ?

Gary Rydstrom uses software like Kyma X to
do much of what he does...(from what I've read about him)
It's amazing software (having used it one time myself) but outside
of what I can afford at the moment.
Also outside the scope of using Sequencer/Daws in sound design, as
Kyma is much different in many respects.
Personally I'd use Digital Performer, Pro tools, (or if I had it) Nuendo..
(over rated though it may be)
Logic is great for many things, but I find editing/fine tuning audio far to
clumsy in Logic.
I'd sooner use open source stuff like Ardour for that purpose
over Logic.
That's me though..many people might disagree.
Which again, has nothing to do with the topic at hand.
Couldn't resist answering your initial question though...
Sorry, I'll stop now
:)

Sorry, I forget that we're not all film people that know the 'lingo' from time to time. A sound designer is the person that edits, creates and records sound for film & TV work. Basically all the sound except the music (without getting into too much detail regarding foley, atmos etc.).

The vast majority of them (in film & TV work at least) use Pro Tools, but I know of a lot that use DP and Nuendo. I've never heard of any using Cubase or Logic.

(thought I sort of said that, but okayyy)

I've met a few people who've used Cubase for Sound design work

Sorry, At least we said the same thing. I'd already typed my reply before I saw your post, and couldn't let all that typing go to waste now, could I?

I guess I should fess up that I have used Cubase for sound design work (& even a couple of sound mixes) in the past on a few short films - but only because I didn't have anything else at the time. For some reason, Cubase is really good at importing OMF's.

great idea
Who hasn't had a mix get away from them and had to trim all the channels back 1db?

1, BIGGER or adjustable font size ,.. what's with the tiny print?

4, let me hear the MIDI velocity while I edit it,.. handy for a MIDI snare drum v adjustment without guessing.
1) I so totally second the font sizes! Further, I'd like font colors. My aging eyes are finding the dark grey text/light grey background in the TO and elsewhere harder and harder to read. Yes, I could lower the rez on my monitor, but then I'll lose total screen real estate. I miss the high contrast Black text/white background. Much easier to see. And if this takes the form of being able to "skin" DP, so much the better.

4) Yes! MIDI Velocity while editing! SO important when editing v-switched samples!

93) FORCE the transport control to always be on top, so those pesky VIs that swallow keyboard commands can't do it anymore. (NI, I'm talking to YOU! :x )

Good as an option, but I'd also like to be able to remove the transport from the screen altogether.

I'd love this option, too.

Yes! I forgot to mention this--this is such an important missing feature for me--The mute soundbites tool should be able to mute MIDI notes as well.
Oh yeah..I want that man!..lol

Here are my top requests, gathered from experience with other sequencers (about to send to MOTU):

1) Tab to next note in MIDI graphic editor triggers sound (Cubase)
2) Use the arrow keys to audition patches in the pop-up patch window instead of having the window disappear as soon as you select any one patch (Protools)
3) Switch out MIDI patchname files (.midnam) from within the program (Protools)

If anyone knows if these features are already present, PLEASE, PLEASE let me know!

Cheers

How about bracketed editing ala Pro Tools such that you can highlite a section of audio and pull down with the mouse and that EXACT section will increase or decrease in volume. I miss that from pro tools alot.
