Great thread!
I strongly concur with the need for user preferences for overall color schemes and textures. As much as I like DP, I've always felt that it was just too...gray!
Also, I would love to see a standardization of certain buttons. Mute buttons should always look the same, no matter what window you are working in. Ditto for similar functions (solo, record, etc.).
I do like the minor tweaks done with DP 5 though. The font changes and added 'depth' to the Mixer's faders/meters make it a little easier on the eyes (especially when you're wading through tons of faders!).

I agree with that. Most of these things are quite minor, I just want to customize my settings for what I like.
I have to say, one of the best suggestions yet was the two line mixer strip channel name! I am tired of Tra....5

I ever had difficulties to change patch in multi-banks synts.
I should like to have patch mini- menus that fall down from bank list to patch list with a click, not with mouse pointing.
This because often (depends of in wich position is the track in the screen) the patch menu appear over the bank menu and if you have not light-speed mouse pointing, you must restart setting patch.
I have a korg wavestation SR, that has 11 banks of 50 patches each, and when I search for a sound I got to be crazy!
I'm waiting this little change from 14 years, but it never going...

one GUI enhancment that I think many people would like is actually not an enhancment at all... I would like to be able to make DP look like LOGIC. Ugly simplistic, and most importantly FAST! I noticed this problem when I was working on multi tracked drums recently. each time I scrolled the screen past the chunck of 12 multitracked drums (that have gone through beat correction) DP SLOWED DOWN TO A CRAWL.
I think DP is actually TOO pretty for it's own good. I would like the option to strip away all the fancy shadows and realistic looking faders. Give me the look of LIVE or LOGIC, even though I hate the way those programs look, cause I know it will make DP faster.

cridarco, I hear your pain!

I have a VirusTI and the patch bank list is crazy! I too would like a second column with bank, then just put patches in the first. Actually, I'd like the bank select button to just be small, I'd be okay with that. I don't need to see which bank, but I agree, it's a pain.
I'd also like to be able to key bind bank changes, not just patch changes. Right now, I cannot figure out how to switch to a different bank. So, I audition all patches in one bank, then have to switch to another bank with the mouse.
As for DP running slow, I've noticed some sloweness at times as well, anytime I have controller changes, DP crawls for me. Of course, I have thirty things going at once and my CPU is red-lined at this point.
