Got an audio performance that you'd like to convert to MIDI data? Copy Digital Performer's pitch segments from the audio track and paste them into a MIDI track...." (etc.)

It was me. Thank you. I am sooo glad I had not pulled the trigger and bought Melodyne yet. Great program that it is...I am very much looking forward to playing with this feature this weekend. So cool. Thanks BKK-OZ!

Brian Ralston

That was the first thing I thought of when I saw that: "I hope Brian hasn't bought Melodyne yet." Lucky YOU! Could this have been any more tailor made for you? I hope it does all you need. Now... if MOTU would just put some noise elimination algorithms into the next update, I won't have to buy Waves' Restoration Bundle...

Nice job Motu..appreciate all the new useful features.
A 2018 Mac mini with 16 gb of ram
HUGE bunch o' AU instruments/fx...
A Metric Halo ULN8-3D…mmmmmmm
Remember to eat all your fruits and vegetables!
My OS is The amazingly gratuitous 10.14
I am sorry to say that the spikes I had in 4,52 are still alive and well. I just cannot use this software for mixing. I have to use an old Cubase SX 1 to do the job.
I've downloaded it. Hope it's okay with my set-up. I'll install it on my back-updrive and do the usual "Permissions then TTP" and test it during supper. The only time I have, since I'm in the middle of a session.
But for now just the update looks greatttt.

Why don‘t they fix it????

Have you tried any of the utilities? because 4.52 works great for me and no spikes at all. What buffer are you set at?
4.6 later today. I'm working night shift right now.
Good news: lots of cool new features, really nicely done.
Bad news: I've crashed 4 times (unheard of; DP never crashes on me), and the processor spikes are the worst since version 4.0, which was virtually unusable in OSX. Audio is so filled with crackles and pops from CPU spikes that I'm either going to have to find a G5 or go back to 4.52. They're not constant, but they happen at least 6 times per minute. Maybe more RAM would help? I don't know. But it makes me sad that we can't get beyond the processor spikes.
Still, I applaud MOTU on solving a lot of other problems. Thanks for the great update, guys! Now... would it be too much to make the next one 100% focussed on smooth playback with no crackles? That's what everyone's looking for now.

I don't think more RAM is going to help you Shooshie. There's 6.5GB in the G5 dual 2.7 I'm running and I get the spikes as well. I could add 1.5GB more RAM, but really don't think that's the issue
I, too, applaud MOTU for the cool new features, but second Shooshie in asking for a 4.61 release that's spike free and as stable as 4.52 was. Does MOTU utilize beta testers for DP? I know they do for Mach 5, but I haven't heard of similar opportunities for DP. I really really think they need to consider doing this. I'd sign up immediately.

Which G4 are you using?
Dual 1GHz, the QuickSilver from July, 2002. But it's been a great machine with far less trouble in any version of DP than I hear from most people. The spikes are relatively new for me, having had a long period of stability and minimal spiking with 4.11 and 4.52 before this started happening.
I'm going to try something. I'm going to quit every single widget in the Dashboard, along with any other processes I don't need, and see if that makes any difference. I forget that Tiger is kind of new to me, and that I'm letting my system get clogged up with active processes. I thought I had the Dashboard thinned out, but there were still about 10 of them running. I'll report back if there is any change to speak of.
I have a 1ghz BowerBook with I gig ram, TC Powercore firewire, Metric Halo 2882 connected via a separate firewirecard.
I have been having spikes for several months. In fact since TC driver 1.9.3 came out. I always thought it was TC that was the problem and I have experimented with buffersizes. when 1.9.5 came out i thought this is it. And it is. but not in combination with DP. When i work in Cubase, there are no spikes....So I guess DP has a job to do.
Someone said that he had talked to DP about the spikes. their reply was something like: get a faster machine...Perhaps they should say: get another software!

We're almost off topic now, but here goes.
Put your buffer at 1024, do permissions, then use TechTool Pro and redo permissions again, dissable as many settings in DP and your OS that you don't really need. Also make sure you have the max of ram your powerbook can take. There are a few more settings, but I'll get back to you after work and a bit of sleep.
