Polar doesn't load until you select it. You can confirm this using Activity Monitor.

I wonder if the Beatles had wishlists of things they could change about their tube consoles and tape machines, or if they just went in and made great music?
Sorry, just had to spread the wisdom....

Hello!
1. Support for ID3 tags when exporting mp3.
Quite useful feature. now I have to do it in Itunes.
2. grouping soundbites like in samplitude. I dont mean tracks , just soundbites.
3. More colorful interface.
4. Better import window. now it is quite slow to import a lot of stuff.
peace!

A while ago user definable MIDI regions (ala PT) in the sequence editor was a big thing but no-one has mentioned it yet. I'm still hanging out for them....

Look in the Time ruler at the top to find your location. It's not the same, but it helps. I agree with your suggestion and would add not letting the playback wiper disappear. Or even better just partially disppearing (like a 50% gray out), so you could see through to what was underneath.

I'd like to see an overhaul of the Beat Detective features. I realize it's new, but it just never seemed to work as advertised. It needs to be more streamlined and have better integration into the program. Its pretty unintelligent having to edge edit a file first just to define tempo and defining of beats ought to "round" to the nearest beat or be able to define a percentage from the beat to keep a more steady tempo. For example, most music I do doesn't have huge tempo swings, so the BDE ought to only define quarter or eighth notes. Any passing notes ought to be skipped so that during quantize I'm not dealing with deleting hundreds of "beats". Using beat strength alone is not a reasonably accurate way to define beats.
Also, the definition of tracks for phase coherent time shifting should be a simple selecting of track names and then, define beats. DP ought to inteligently and by user definable parameters, find beats from all selected tracks based on time (as previously discussed), beat strength and lay in beats that are sample accurate on all tracks. Quantize and go.
The BDE in its present state is too cumbersome and innaccurate to be usable. Right now it is still easier adn faster for me to manually Adjust beats for a song (or tracks) and Adjust Soundbites to Sequence Tempo to get things on a grid. BDE should make this easier, not more difficult.

A few that I really, really want: (sorry if someone already posted these - I haven't read the whole thread yet).
1) An on/off switch for Dynamic CPU Management - cuz sometimes it does wacky things to your audio.
2) A version of the convolution reverb used in MOTU Symphonic Instrument (why not share the wealth guys!!)
3) A PCI "Booster" card - like a UAD card except to give DP more power when your close to maxing the Mac's internals - of course this should be optional so you only buy it if you need it.
4) Sends on Master Fader (to insert hardware on the master fader, i.e. mix bus compression/eq)

Yes, yes, yes!!! I forgot that one - pleeease give us a "real" freeze function. DP's "freeze" funtion is a joke - not much better than just doing a plain old bounce to disk, real-time and all.

The ability to save without stopping as your recording.
When tracking a live show I always get a sick feeling until I can finally stop and hit "SAVE".
"Oh gee, I'm sorry, would you mind replaying the last 45 min. set, you see we had this little TECH. problem".
Thanks

Have you used Overwrite? In Automation Setup, choose Overwrite as the Automation type for all tracks (or the tracks you select), then hit play and stop. Current positions are written for volume and pan (and any other currently active automation parameter), extending to the end of the track. Then Overwrite changes to Touch, so that it doesn't rewrite your automation every time you hit play.
Am I missing something? Is this what you're asking for? I thought you just wanted to be able to go directly to a track and draw the automation you wanted. If just recording current levels is all you want, then Overwrite is your answer.
If you want automation levels for every single effect parameter, without actually moving them first, then that's another ball of wax. That's the last thing I'd want, because then we'd have a dense jungle of automation parameters, requiring endless scrolling just to go from displaying "Volume" to "Soundbite." But it will record Volume and Pan just by starting playback in Overwrite Mode.
[edit] Oh, and I'm completely forgetting about snapshots. Have you tried that? Does all the above without having to hit "Play."
Shooshie
ll I want is volume and pan. I will try that. Still, seems like a lot of extra work. Digi got that one right.
