Have you ever had a great musical idea in the middle of the night, gotten out of bed and written down or recorded a few bars--only to realize in the morning that it's the most embarrassingly bad piece of shittake in creation

That's what separates the good musicians from the bad - a good musician may still drop a turdkey every now and then, but he will soon realize it's stinky-ness and flush it down the digital toilet where it belongs. The bad musician will just polish that bad boy up and stick it on MySpace.

.......the painful irony is how many of those polished loads end up making loads.......of cash, that is.

Saw that one on the drive into my day job....and it made me smile.

(My apologies if this offends any of you that are full time musicians - I don't mean to say that you are *not* real musicians..........I am green with envy over you guys.......I just found the bumper sticker encouraging....)

I heard a similar story by a comedian. He would dream he was doing these hysterically funny stand-up routines, so he decided to keep a little tape recorder by his bedside so he could wake up and record the routines he dreamt before he forgot them. He said the first morning after he had done just that, he woke up and eagerly rewound the tape recorder to hear what gems he had dictated that night. When he pressed play all that was on the tape was incoherent, unintelligible rambling!
