Can't say I recall Charlie's maybe it wasn't there when I was. There was another hole in the wall called little stevie's with great pizza a few doors down from Berklee. Ahh the good ole days
Yeah, Robbie, I'll bet that's where Charlie's was. Word was that Charlie's was also a bookie joint. I don't doubt it. Used to see a number of very serious guys in suits come through there--and I didn't see them leaving with any sandwiches.
The whole area around Hemenway St., The Fenway, Symphony Road, etc. was a *bad* neighborhood back than.
(I wasn't at Berklee, but another nearby music school.)

Looking back on it now it didn't seem so bad, but at the time I was terrified. Having come from upstate NY it was a bit of a culture shock. I can remember it was like my 3rd night in Boston and some homeless/drunk guy apparantly tried to dive through the window of a liquor store on Boylston St. I think he sliced an artery in his neck or something. he died right on the sidewalk. It was a pleasant experience
1. "Old Yeller" was a nice little 1950s Walt Disney film about a little boy whose dog gets hydrophobia (now called rabies). It was the first film I ever saw in a movie theatre.
2. You'd just better hope Skippy doesn't run into Old Yeller.

Mr. Skippy leads Mr. Yeller 4 games to 3, final set." the umpire announces.

"Honey, when's Jelena, Maria, Daniela or Stephanie Seymore coming on?"
"What? Stephanie's not a tennis player? But she plays tennis - I've seen her do it.
Somebody should give her a call and get her down here... "
Well I still got my money on the rabid dog. Cujo he ain't, but he's more dangerous than being chained in a room between the Williams sisters after a big match.
Oh man, I'd have thought playing piggy in the middle with the Williams sisters would be hard to beat in terms of a beat-up.
Remember when Serena was asked, one week into the New Orleans disaster, if she had any words of encouragement for the victims, homeless and injured, and those who'd lost loved ones?
She said, "I' haven't heard about that".

Well I guess Katrina wasn't a tennis player.
She probably thought they said Martina, so therefore she hadn't heard about her creating any sort of disaster which injured people
